Only from what I've read, I don't keep links as a link back nor do I actually care to provide proof from what I've read, maybe I've misread or miss interpreted what I've read in the past. From what you gather? What exactly do you gather? What information do you have to base this claim on that Steam can ban your account for connecting via a VPN to activate a game 3 days early? It's not stealing. It's not piracy.
Plus, you have to sit in offline mode after you activate it if you want to disconnect from the VPN.
Do you have ANY information which backs up your claim or not? Because if not, you are fear mongering.

You do realise that Deus Ex 3 is region locked, right? Steam itself may not be, but the game is.
If you purchased the game on a UK IP, then your game is the UK region version of the game, not the US, so there's no guarantee the VPN will even work, and if you spoof your IP with a region locked game, Valve have all rights to ban your account or remove the game if the game even works.
Well I've submitted a ticket to Steam to find out as I'm interested now.
Really, there is no point for different release dates around the world. One of the most pointless things publishers do.

the xbox version is already everywhere on the interwebs.
But remember only the pc has piracy!!
so people dont take time off work.
It isn't the publisher's fault. It is the fault of brick and mortar stores. In the US they get their deliveries midweek so that is when they release games whereas everywhere else in the world they release on a Friday so people dont take time off work.
Once again it is the fault of the USA and B&M stores.
Speak for yourself, i live in a dodgy Ukrainian server.
Update: Reading back on that, apparently digital copies aren't region locked...
http://www.kotaku.com.au/2011/08/deus-ex-human-revolution-on-the-pc-is-region-locked/ Says at bottom, digital copies not region coded
And this: http://www.kotaku.com.au/2011/08/now-deus-ex-human-revolution-wont-be-region-locked-on-the-pc/
The game is NO longer region locked, and it never applied to digital copies.
By the time you get a response, the game will have been released in the UK for about a week
