And they can ban your steam account for doing this, don't really want to risk my 139 games.

Done this for years not banned, what happens if you go abroad ??? and want to play your games ? with relatives ect. Impossible lol
or if you move abroad ect surely they wont say you cant take your games heh

Well as much as I want to play this I can't risk £1,500 worth of games, hope you enjoy playing it tonight those who do.

Its stupid that we have these discrepancies anyway. Stupid USA always have to be different.

And thats why this method is so great : VYPRVPN is awesome ;)
also if the game turns out to be crap after 1 hour you could if you wanted change your ip back to UK and request a refund :)
really does come in handy aswell when no demos for games are released.

Why exactly can they ban your account for doing this?

If I happened to be in the States when the game released, I would be able to unlock it then. I've paid for the game. It's not illegal to spoof my location for an unlock!

Steam is a GLOBAL platform, not tied to regions. Now, if it was region tied, I would understand there being an issue. Like if you HAD to specify what country you are in when you create your account. But you don't. Steam changes the prices and deals and release dates based on where you're internet connection says you are.

Some people...

Also, I did this for F1 2010 and Fallout: New Vegas and my account is still fine ;)

Is this a sly dig? I'm only making people aware that they can be banned from what I gather.

From what you gather? What exactly do you gather? What information do you have to base this claim on that Steam can ban your account for connecting via a VPN to activate a game 3 days early? It's not stealing. It's not piracy.

Plus, you have to sit in offline mode after you activate it if you want to disconnect from the VPN.

Do you have ANY information which backs up your claim or not? Because if not, you are fear mongering.

You do realise that Deus Ex 3 is region locked, right? Steam itself may not be, but the game is.

If you purchased the game on a UK IP, then your game is the UK region version of the game, not the US, so there's no guarantee the VPN will even work, and if you spoof your IP with a region locked game, Valve have all rights to ban your account or remove the game if the game even works.
