*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

The whole retail specific dlc stuff really tees me off. By all means do the books, artwork, maps and other physical stuff that you can't download as an incentive but not something that is actually downloadable like this. Can't the publishers see that they are just annoying customers while propping up a business that is heading for the bin shortly anyway?

And so Steam continues to be a complete ****! Left it downloading through the night as it was downloading at a stupidly slow speed (as usual) and had to "Pause Update" at 89% and shut down the pc as I had to go to work, come home, start Steam up again and I'm back to 10% downloading at a max of 230kb sec?! This isn't the first time Steam has done this to me either and now im gonna be stuck in on a friday night with a stinking cold with only carp TV to watch :(

Steam resets the % remaining when you close it.

You'll have downloaded 10% of your remaining amount. Not 10% of the whole thing. :)

Just started playing it now! maxed everything graphics wise runs smooth as silk with vsync etc on with 5870 OC'ed and a Q9550 at 3.6!

looks nice too! and combat feels good! will play it more over the weekend! :D

I pre ordered this yesterday afternoon on two different Steam accounts, Both took ~2/3 hours to download, about 30 seconds to "unlock" and about ~5 minutes to defrag.

It installed an updated direct X thing and boom in to the game.

Enjoying it. I'm paying no attention to what's happening though :D so I'm going to start again tonight I think and have a proper sit down and read everything / play properly.

I'm also, not sure why people are complaining about it's graphics, it's not quite Crysis II I admit but it's a very good looking game (I'm able to have everything turned right up at 1920x) If they game looked like Crysis people would bitch that the system "specs" are too high.

Do you honestly believe that buying games in hard copy form (i assume you mean games on dvd's) is heading for the bin shortly??

When everyone has 20mb+ internet connections maybe, until then, games on discs are here to stay for quite some time !!

Does anyone else's game freeze? For example I can be running around the hub but as soon as I go to sprint its as if it cant load quick enough and will freeze for a second. I'm not sure if it's down to my graphics or the hard drive!

3hrs played and loving it..... runs smooth, looks great and feels like Deus Ex !!(so far)

one thing I would suggest is turn off the stupid 'highlight objects' malarkay it really doesn't belong in this type of game....

Totally agree, 1st thing i switched off before i started the game.
I have to re-apply my refresh rate (60hz) at each boot up of the game otherwise all the smaller text on screen becomes almost readable. A minor glitch. Probably the latest AMD drivers fault tho.
Settings all maxxed out with 2gb 6950. Would be a bit miffed if it didnt run smoothly, performance still drops a little here and there tho, might be worth trying out drivers 11.7 or 11.6.
Loving the feel of the game, very much like the original.

Bloody game better not be like that with BF3:(:(

Why in this day and age are you paying more for less content on steam than a retail disk which i found for £7 cheaper:confused:

Yup. With my bonus points I got the augmented edition for £15 less than the RRP on steam. It installed from the disc in under 10 minutes as well. If I was at home then it wouldn't much difference (50mb Virgin) but since I am chugging along on 2mbps at uni it saved a whole day of unbearably slow speeds and annoying the house mates.

I have Rage and Space Marine both on retail pre-order too. It is easier for some people.

If you bought it digitally you don't get them. The mission pack and items are retail only iirc. The rest of the aug content should be under tools (which they should rename to be more clear that its additional content related to the game, rather than what it was when Steam came out).

It's the reason I asked if the mission was worth the extra time and money over getting it for £21.59.

Bugger. I hastily ordered the Augmented Edition from Green Man Gaming the other day because it was the same price as the standard version and so thought I was getting a steal (for some reason I was charged in USD, and they had a discount on the Aug Edition at the time). I guess I should have looked into what retailers/distributors were offering what pre-order incentives and not just assumed I'd get the same no matter where I ordered it from. :(

Oh well, at least I got a code for Deus Ex: GOTY :o
