*****Official Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution discussion thread*****

This is a given for every game nowadays:D

You mean watching to the end of the credits is? Not always :p

Anyway, really amazing game. Next challenge will be to unlock two of the achievements:

Foxiest of the Hounds
Complete Deus Ex: Human Revolution without setting off any alarms.

and

Pacifist
Complete Deus Ex: Human Revolution without anyone dying by your hand. (Boss fights do not count.)

Hats off to Eidos Montreal. Delivering a fantastic game, and patching the issues so quickly! The decrease in load time in fantastic! Good work, and a great first release for them.

I suppose it depends on what you mean by shortly. Digital (on PC) has already long overtaken retail in volume of sales. Even when I was on a 3.5mb ADSL line I preferred to buy to download rather than get a physical copy. Now that I am on a 37.5mb line, there's no competition.

Have you seen the PC sections in Gamestation and Game? You have to look quite hard to find them, they are so small. I think eveyone agrees, it a question of when rather than if games become download only.

I agree that it will be download only in the future but ultimately when it happens, it will be decided by the console market. All the recent console to pc ports, most done badly i might add, suggest that for most games companies, the pc market is an after thought.

The console market is too profitable at the moment and it will most probably stay that way for a few years yet. Will depend on the next generation of consoles and they are quite a few years off. Discs are here to stay, for the time being at least :)

Check the Amazon etc figures on hard copies before you assume anything.

Just picked up a copy from Harrods on the way home, they didn't have the Aug one so ended up with the Limited Edition with Explosive Mission Pack. Installing now using the old "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe"\ -install D:

Worst "I am loaded" post ever.

4890 is still a decent card tbh. I would expect to run it on high really.

Actually, are you trying to run it on Directx11, as that might be your problem mate

Also, thank you everyone who has been discussing the game without any hint of spoilers, it is much appreciated:)

Trying to tracks spec and playability/settings etc.

Anyone have a e8400/4890 combo? thoughts etc.

Cheers, Paul.

Is the game so good that its worth getting with money that shouldn't be spent and saved instead? Terribly skint at the moment and should be saving me pennies, temptation is a horrible thing :p

I still never understand why people would play a game like this through again, you already know all the 'levels' the missions and story. It would be a chore to me.

Oh and bets are on for how many weeks until we see DLC?

I'm playing it on my laptop hooked into the TV @ 720p. It's a 4 year old Macbook Pro with a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo & 8600 GTM + 256MB. I have depth of field off, shadows on, ssao on and edge anti aliasing. It's a fairly steady 25fps.

The desktop with an i7 + 6950 plays 1920x1200 with everything on full whack a constant 60fps.

Because it's fun...

Trying to complete the game and not set off a SINGLE alarm will be a challenge! As will completing it on hard mode. As will try out a different style of play. I played pretty much full stealth during this playthrough. And I missed 3 of the side quests some how.

So, still content to see, still a different way to play :)

So whats the save system like on this then? We talking F5 save, F9 reload or checkpoint?

Rolling auto-saves (two at a time I think) and quick save/load.

Auto saves are actually a right pain in the arse as you can never be sure when the game will throw one at you.

Been playing it a bit today and I quite like it so far can see it being pretty long though like fallout, you get out what you put in but so far so good.

Ah yeah, forgot about the auto saves.

Plus, like I said, you can make your own slot saves if you want, to be able to roll back to areas :)

There is a lot to explore, and certainly took me a good while to complete :)

Exactly, after getting thro with with stealth, i will go gung ho all the way thro, killing everyone i see. Then i will alternate, gung ho one for one or two missions, then then stealth for the next, thats what made the original such a joy to play over and over. Take as long as possible for one mission, get thro the next one as quick as possible. And so on.
Didnt think they would get the feel of the original for this (pre)sequel right but they certainly have, in my eyes at least.
