Plus they are nice and stable, thanks to all the extra power connectors on the boards.

TBH there has been a fair bit of discussion as to whether that is true. While the majority know the NEO2 is flaky but there does seem to be some contradiction between the results people are getting in terms of both gains and actual voltage needed (particularly vdimm). Knowing how XS readers are I'm wondering whether extra power connectors are actually doing anything.

Personally I'm using a 20-pin PSU with nothing else plugged into the board and one thing I do not doubt, is the board's voltage regulation quality. As far as I can tell the regulation on the DFI NF4 series is as stable as you could possibly hope for.

On a side note has anyone configured MBM with the DFIs? I'm having a problem with the temp monitoring.

One last question, whats the difference between the DFI LanParty UT NF4 SLI-D and the DFI LanParty UT NF4 SLI-DR?

OCUK doesn't say and the DFI website doesn't even seem to have the DFI LanParty UT NF4 SLI-DR listed.

4 sata ports and frontX things i think (may have been one more differance though)

i can do 2 things pull power from the cable box so it re sets and it will work after.
2nd thing is to press repair in network conns in xp and it will work again.

other thing with the lan card the marvill one i can noy get to work at all when i install drivers from cd and from web windows crashes.

wish i could say that about my UT NF4 SLI-D, needs to restart a couple of times before it'll accept changes to the bios & is woefully unstable if i put the ram in the yellow slots. & thats on the latest bios.

Tried connecting to IDE2 instead of IDE1 and it does the same thing..........sitting there saying inspecting computers hardware config...........

Anymore ideas?

Andy.

I had the same problem as you. It was my memory. Swapped my 1gb of geil for a 256mb stick of pc2100 in. Windows installed fine after that. Need to send the geil back and get a replacement. Bit of a bottle neck this 256mb is. lol

Is anyone having any probs using windows update? When i first installed win it downloaded all the critical updates fine, but when i go to the update page and select either Recommended or Custom it just sits at the progress bar doing nothing. Anybody experiencing the same problem??

I'm using (or trying to) a Western Digital 160Gb WD1600JD which is plugged into SATA 1 socket. I tried swapping the cable from IDE1 to 2 which my DVD ROM and writer are connected to which made no difference. Plus I tried 2 x 512mb Geil PC3200 value in slots 2&4 and 1 x 512 in slot 2, still the same problem.

Help?

Andy.
Sorry just noticed you had the same ram is me so that must be the problem.

Im just doing the win update just now. Not having any problems.

Ok having graphics issues.

I have connected everything up i think :). The only thing i am not sure on is i have a blue lead on my tagan saying p4 and it is 2 4connectors that can join together. Now on the mobo i have a 4 port connection next to the 24pin power supply. Now do i plug this in as i thought this is for p4 only?

Also i have no monitor display comming up, i have pluged in the power connector for the pci-express card (a x800XT) but am using the VGA connnector as i have lost my DVI connector.

Now i have unplugged the DVD drives and the HDD, and have the cpu, 1 memory in slot 2, the FDD and the graphics card all plugged in still no go.

Now is it worth trying a AGP graphics card in there?

OK can someone slap me round the head pls

I connected the 4 pin P4 power connector and hey presto it worked.

I feel extrememly stupid now hehe.

And ignore the agp comment lol i was in stupid land.

VoG, first posts says use orange.

allready done it matey.

it's just being really flaky for some reason. even if i clear cmos & leave it at stock, then change just the multi & nothing else, it has to restart a couple of times before it'll accept the change in bios.

might whip me GSkill out & try some different ram, maybe a different bios as well.

Im beggining to think its the SPD thats stopping the Cas2.5 and cas3 on the NF4 with the corsair.

But I will be pleased to see what you manage with the LE.
Got some GSkill 4800 on there, and can't get it to boot into Windoze at 215MHz x 10 even with 3.1V, though it will happily run the tightest timings 2,2,2,5 at 210MHz with 2.9V?

Using with a Winchester 3200 Week 50, so I'm not sure whether it's the CPU or RAM which is really letting the side down. I'd suspect the CPU but I booted into Memtest by accident after reflashing with 0209 BIOS, and it locked up the PC during test #8 after 19 minutes (though I've never used Memtest before so I'm not sure).

I'm going to try some Corsair 4400 Platinum which I've got tomorrow to see which it is.

I'd be interested to hear how many volts you're using to get the RAM and CPU working overtime on these boards. Most of the screenies I've seen are for people using water or freon, and I'm on air (getting great temps from the Hyper 48 though) until Cathar get's the Storm/G5 waterblocks made and shipped.

I too have 1gb of gskill la and a week 50 winchester 3200+. I was able to run the ram happily at just under 320 mhz at reasonable timings (2.5,3,3,7) with the processor at 2720 mhz until it spazzed out mid game (I think I was running the cpu voltage too low). The gskill la is optimised for high fsb speeds (275-360+) at reasonable timings rather than ultra tight timings, although I have read about people running at arround 230mhz at 2225. 3.1v seems a little much, 2.9v should be more than adequette for this ram. I would reccomend trying the ram at high fsb and reasonable timings, rather than tight timings.
