Official DFI NF4Ultra-D/SLi owners thread.

Re-set cmos and the following happens:

With gcard in top slot, single stick of ram, no hd's, dvd's or anything else, 3 red led's are lit and the green power led on front of case flashes on and off.

With gcard in other slot, single stick of ram, no hd's, dvd's or anything else, led's go down to one lit and pc speaker beeps - darrrrrrrrrr da da - power led remains lit.

Matt

Mercyless,

RMA's are direct back to DFI, gonna try some differnt ram today and if that don't work have a go at the RMA procedure.

Got my board Friday :(

Matt

Save me reading through this huge topic,
I want to get an Ultra-D but I hear chipset cooler is loud and close to the PCI-E slots. What suitable passive or 'silent' coolers will fit alongside a 6800 or X800?

You won't get a passive cooler on the chipset unless you seriously mutilate a zalman NB cooler or the like, as the GFX card runs right over the chipset.

Had no problem at all setting Xp pro up. What hard drives you using sata or pata and have you enabled the sata ports you want to use?

matt, whats going with mobo's, we laid out good money for it, now even more to send back plus time waiting and we just got it, i'm not happy at mo.
it has to be dfi for rma ?in our case we just got them 2-3 day ago, will they repair or replace mobo?
dont like it if repairing mobo, should be new i'd say

Hi
What is a safe Vcore level to put through a 3800? At the moment I can pass 20 loops of 3dmark01 at 217 with the vcore at 1.52 and the vdimm at 2.9. Would you consider this "gaming" stable? The memory passes memtest ok at 233, 2.5,4,3,8, (with the multiplier turned right down) but won't boot into windows at 12. I've tried smaller steps but it crashes 3dmark at 220. I'm thinking that I should try more vcore but don't want to fry it. This is a gaming machine so I want to keep within safe and stable tolerances. Exos is reading 32. So far ***** pi-fast is 47.61, 3dmark01 around 26500 and 3dmark05 is about 9100 This is without touching memory timings or Nvidia control panel. Any pointers greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Mercyless,

Agree with ya, reading the dfi rma things first port of call can be supplier it's upto the person sending it back.

Would prefer to take it back to overclockers and get replacement, would be quicker.

Matt

Most of that is outside the scope of this thread, maybe start a new post in Overclocking regarding as you will get far more replies specificly to you.
As for Vcore, 1.65v is a safe max(as stated by AMD's white papers)

my 6800GT literally sits ontop of the chipset cooler, does no harm to it (probably a bit of obstruction).

Software for the UT Ultra d

Been through this thread and can not find answers to my questions hence this post. { If I have missed bits I beg forgiveness , this thread IS long }.

Here goes:

1/ How do you remove Nvidia firewall ?
2/ How do you remove Nvidia forceware ?
3/The Nvidia SW driver , a good guy or not ? if not how get rid ?

Ps.
Thanks for all the tips so far esp R and a high 5 to DFI forum for the bios set ups.

:)

is this board very troublesome then lads?

I was thinking of buying one today? But I'd like to know why people are all having bootup problems?

HELP!!!

Hi all,

Got my A.02 Ultra-D on Tuesday and have been fighting to get it to boot with my new pair of 512mb Corsair XMS3200XL all week. Managed to get it running OK with a pair of Samsung 256 PC2700 sticks from my old system and also followed the thread advice of setting up using one stick - this went ok. But I CANNOT get any stability with both Corsair sticks installed, it simply gets to the WindowsXP Pro desktop and immediately reboots. Have flashed the BIOS to 209 and also tried every possible memory combination and voltages from 2.5 - 2.9 but all to no avail. Have also tried all the slot combinations possible.
Any additional advice would be appreciated (have studied this thread for an hour though!) or do you think I should RMA the board?
Thanks in advance

A very frustrated Mark H

Cheers samcim, Yes single sticks seem to work fine, and I've tried both individually. Have run memory test in the BIOS 209 and it did show errors in 1 of the 10 tests (can't remember which test though!) I've also concentrated on the orange slots but I did try the yellow in desperation.... nothing seems to work.
Thanks

Ive just ordered this board and ive read many places that the board will work fine with a 20pin psu connection! is this true? current power supply is 450w and didnt want to change that aswell! just wanted some feedback from anyone who actully has it on this setup. thanks .
