Official DFI NF4Ultra-D/SLi owners thread.

They have, it's in Bournmouth, they just handle the UK RMA's back to Germany.

Incidently, when you agree to purchase the board you agree to the terms and conditions of the returns procedure.

That maybe true, but you are still covered by UK law, 28days is return to base.

Nothing that any UK based E-tailer can print on their site will change that. Consumer rights over rule any terms & conditions that could be deemed unfair or directly contravene them.

As for bournmouth that hadle shipping back to germany, that kinda whack realy as DFI need to RMA'd to Holland so whats going on with DFI !
The agent should carry some boards to save time & money, a little bit like how monitor manufacturers use 3rd party agents to handle on site warranty (although I'm not sugesting they do onsite)

Slot 2 and 4 didn't work for my ram, either did 2 and 3.

When i put the 256mb module in i reset cmos, but it just stayed on 3 lights on the motherboard LED.

I'm using bios 310.

Should i do 1 and 3 ?

Someone must have a clue on how to use a 512mb module and 256mb module, and what slots to use for each module lol.

Modules have to be matched size for DC , you can use the top 2 slots ( closest to PSU) 1 orange and 1 yellow

I put them in -

Slot 1 - 512Mb
Slot 2 - 256Mb

With auto settings it recognized the timings at 2-3-2-5 so i changed them to 2-2-2-5.

This CPC on is to adjust from 1t and 2t correct ?

It's on auto and making it 2t.

How do i get it to 1t ? As i enabled it but then it wouldn't start the computer up.

Is all this CPC 1t and 2t for dual channel only ?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also i get this message everytime i restart -

WARNING

The system is running in Single Channel Mode when you plug DIMM Module in DIMM1.

Please install 2 ram modules into DIMM 2&4 for Dual Channel operation.

How can i stop that from coming up, as i have to press F1 to continue past that screen.

Ta guys,

Andy

Andy;
CPC is for single or Dual, it could be your memory not like 1T setting, it does give a performance boost but if you system is'nt stable with it enabled, run 2T until you can get a matched Dimm.

SpuMaster;

Mine is around that too, my chipset fan is cobstantly cycling as its set to 50c high speed.
Although it dont seem to matter as I can still hit >400HTT with 1.7v

Ricco cheers for the answer.

Would have thought 1T would be ok, it's Corsair XMS3200XLPT TCCD which is good ram :S

Both ram modules have been memtested for hours, all fine etc...

Any ideas ? As i thought ram like mine being good would accept 1T no problems :S

Only other things i've changed in the DRAM config is the timings from 2-3-2-5 (auto) to 2-2-2-5 and the ram speed from auto to 200 as it was picking up as ddr 333 :S

Am running bios 310.

I don't think the premium is now worth it, Venice just around corner.

Sadly its been delivered on a 1wheeled cart pulled by a horse with 3 legs :(

Its probably just down to the fact they are unmatched.

You will probably be better off now just running SC with the 1 stick of 512 and 1T and dump the low mhz(FSB/HTT) for memory with tight timings and get it to about 275 1T @ 2.5,4,3,7 or there abouts.

Will do that then, can sell this 256 stick anyway, as i'll have no need for it.

Thanks for all your helps and advice ricco :)

By the way guys, 310-p is now on beta, which is 310 but for better performance.

Thanks for info of RMA procedure guy's...

Gonna give the board one last try tonight, got a couple of 4mb pci gcards to try - just to make sure it aint my new pcie gcard thats causeing problem, also got a 512mb pny ddr chip and also a single sided 128mb unbranded ddr dimm to try, after this it's all going back!

Mercyless,

Did you try a differnt cpu at all, as this has been suggested....

Regards,

Matt

P.S. Just received info from oclocker's saying that all RMA's are to be dealt with through dfi, so looks like I might have a long wait............not a happy bunny at the mo!

Hmmm...i got my DFI ultra board on Sat, didnt get a chance to look at it till last night, but when i did i saw that the 'EZ On/touch' switches (buttons) were crushed to one side. I think it was because the karajan audio module thingo sits above them in the packaging and obviously some pressure mustve been applied to the package. Im wondering if anyone else had this?

Man, ive tried calling the support but its been engaged all day.

I dont want to have to stuff around with returning this... sigh :( Guess theres no easy fix.

Not even sure if its worth my while returning it or whether i should just take it on the chin and use the board as is...

If it works OK then just use it IMO. Those buttons are for hard overclockers who use the board out of the casing all the time anyway.

I would ;) but then I'm impatient

Argh...i hate not having a perfect board (espec. since thats essentially what i paid for ...) but you've almost convinced me... i doubt a newb like myself would really use the buttons much at all. The hassle of having to return it and also the time spent waiting... [+ having to cover the cost of postage?!?] just dont seem worth it.

Still, it irks me that the board isnt in perfect condition. If i wasnt such a lazy, impatient c---, i'd most prob return it straight away.

What period of time do i have to return the board?

mercyless,

Seems you were lucky rma'ing your board as have had another message saying o'clockers don't rma the dfi boards they have to go back to the manufacturers - 5 day old board and it has to go back to manufacturers!

Regards,

Matt

I had 5.....yes 5 DFI Infinity motherboards.

The RMA process isn't very good at all, and to be honest i think if a new motherboard isnt working it should be replaced at source of purchase - not manufacture.

From what i can recall i had to send the board to Bournmouth, where it was then sent to DFI in Germany.

3-4 weeks later i had a new one, but not always in a retail box, sometimes an OEM white one was used.

After that lot i gave in and went back to my trusty Abit NF7-S

3-4 weeks, omfg, I think im gonna buy a new board.

that sucks, and I had to pay £20 to ship it over there, not very good service AT all.
