mercyless,

Seems you were lucky rma'ing your board as have had another message saying o'clockers don't rma the dfi boards they have to go back to the manufacturers - 5 day old board and it has to go back to manufacturers!

Regards,

Matt

have you heard from dfi support?

Mercyless,

In a word no...

However there has been a development - I went out and bought a new board but also took home a pci graphics card, guess what using the pci graphics card I can get to bios but when it tries to boot to windows it just keeps resetting itself!

Anyone have any ideas on this?

Regards,

Matt

DFI just confirmed E revision CPUs are working fine on these boards so long as you have the 3/10 bios or later.

Does this mean the new Venice cores will run fine on the DFI NF4 SLi-DR, SLi-D & Ultra-D with the newer bios? (not sure about revision E, but sounds familar and think it may be the Venice's)

Indeed they will from what i have read me ol mucka.

Venice cores will run fine as long as you have the bios from 310 onwards.

If they for some reason don't work, another simple bios update should fix it no probs :)

Goodie, plans to get a SPAW now eternally flushed. Will be waiting for a nice Venice chips.

Boot block has (BIOS) has provision for display with PCI graphics, I wounder if some of your BIOS is corrupted.

Try a BIOS update on the board with the floppy disk method.

Was messing with it late last night, using an old s3 pci gcard...

The splash screen when it comes up is all corrupted so can't read that, but have managed to flash the bios to 310, after rebooting it still has a corrupted splash screen not tried booting to windows as it gotta kinda late last night.

Am off to see if the shop will swap my board for a for a pcie gcard today, then hopefully tonight will get into windows.

Regards,

Matt

P.S. Mercyless, no i didn't bother with another dfi board went and got an asus a8n, hopefully this will be going back today.

matt, thats what happened with mine,i went to bios to make changes, bios screen went funny, had lines going across it, no wording.etc, could'nt get it to boot after that.
good luck in sorting it out.

Mercyless,

I can get into bios ok and make and save changes.....the splash screen is the lanparty logo at the begining it's totally screwed.

Just hope the problem is the gcard, and not the pcie slot - oh well can see more hair pulling and swearing tonight and that's just the missus moaning about how long I'm spending with this computer - lol.

Regards,

Matt

P.S. Just swapped out my mb for the cheapest gcard a radeon 300, don't laugh, and a wad of cash. Hopefully this will sort my problems, or at least one of em...

Well i couldn't reach 300. Any ideas why ?

Timings were at 2.5-4-4-8 on my Corsair XLPT tccd ram.

Had 2.8 volts going through them, tried 2.9v too.

Cpu was at 1.675v (1.648 in cpu-z as it's undervolting)

Couldn't get it to post at 300 though.

Any ideas guys ?

I tried with 1t and 2t, no luck though.

Andy

Am using a heavy duty Thermaltake heatsink and fan and my temp is around 35 idle at 275htt and about 46 full load at 275.

I really want 300HTT though lol

Ooh another quick on guys, what are the default settings for the chipset fan in Smartguardian?

I had a mess then hit default but it didnt default back to the settings from initial install.

Currently on:

Off: 20
Start: 45
Full: 57

And set to 22 on the Low/High horizontal slider

Thanks
