Official DFI NF4Ultra-D/SLi owners thread.

Got confirmation that that my DR mobo, 6800GT and Zalman Heatsink (gonna bend the pins like Minstadave's ;)) has been packed and ready to go
Just waiting for the Venice to come out and im officially a AMD man :D

Guys me got into a little boo boo here lol need help!

Deal is.. Just put in 2x OCuk Value 512mb PC3200 DDR Dual Memory sticks
Bios is updated to latest 310! when come starts up it finds it and warned me about dual channel goes in 2+4 slot. so i done that and rebooted! once again its find the mem all fine etc but when i goes to load windows it just stops! nothing happens.

When i put both sticks in slots 1+2 (yellow + Orange) windows loads up fine no problems at all but mem wont run in dual channel due to obvious reasons!

what do i do ??? lol thanks people!

also notice that when ram is in both orange slots the monitor takes its time to come on compared to when in yellow and orange as monitor is on right away apon powe up. This is puzzling me

sounds maybe like a weak memory controller.

Set CMD to 2T and see if that helps.

i dont follow ricco! when i have the sticks in the yellow and orange it boots up at 333 and (2T) but when i put both em in the orange its 400 and (1T) but fails to load windows. just keeps restarting after the bios loads.

Is CMD somewhere in the bios? in that mad GENIE part lol im lost.

Is anyone using any IDE-SATA converters with the 'D' mobo? If so which one because I've noticed that a lot claim to only work with Silicon Image Controllers...

Also, am I correct in thinking OcUK don't sell any converters as I can't see any on the site

i have just got a dfi ultra-d mobo and a 3000 winnie with some twinmoss utt memory and i cant overclock at all.when i set it to optimised defaults the system runs flawless.i have upped the voltage to 1.5v andd the memory is at 3.4v when i try to boot it just says loading cmos defaults .
any ideas as to how i can overclock ?
oh and the temp on the cpu is 30 degrees
im am tottally stumped as to why i cant overclock and ive tried the defaults with just the fsb raised and the volts up a bit everything else is at auto

where the memory options are , its the very top option.., Dissable = 2T

Found it ! but yet still no joy! boots ! updates cmos and then just hangs.

to be honest i aint into the overclocking business and have no passion to get into it! is there a major factor in leaving it just as it is?

well 2T does put as much (we will call it) load on the memory and its controller as 1T does.

1T is prefffered as it does give a peformance boost, but in some configurations it can cuase stability issues.

BUT:

there is a valid arguement about single channel 1T or Dual channel 2T options.
We wont go into this unless it helps with system stability overall.

well to be honest ive chuffed with the system! i just thought maybe it was important i had it running in dual 2T mode etc!

By the way thanks for your input! very thankfull :D

Hi guy, in need of some quick advice and expertise.

I’m set up and have installed Windows XP Pro. Now I would like to flash the BIOS using Winflash to the latest 310 BIOS. Having never done this before I’m somewhat apprehensive, in fact this is the first system I have ever built.

Could you run me through the steps in using Winflash? Or post a link for a useful guide on how to do this? I’m sure it’s very straight forward but I’m worried about ******* things up.

Also I have all the latest drivers on a disk ready to install on the new PC. But would you recommend that I first install the drivers from the discs provided by the manufacturers and then installing the updated ones or just go straight to the updated one from my own disk?

Cheers.

Tick the boot block, then click update bios, select your bios, then click update on the pop up box. Restart when its done. Load optimized defaults in the bios then enter your bios settings.

Hey guys, is this just happening on my board, or is it normal?
