Official die hard 5 Thread

4 wasn't a Die Hard film.

Probably agree.

They just go too Ott. He's a simple cop put into extra ordinary situations, but not entirely inbelievable oned, that he grinds through showing initiative, humour, heart and vigour. When he has to fuel a jet fighter in number 4 I thought it lacked realism.

Intersting, I can't prefer a film where a jet fighter pulls sideways manouvres around and under freeway bridges as it attempts to stop one man and fails miserably.
It was just too much gubbins.
Some aspects of the film were fine, but not enough of it.

"The film contains four uses of strong language ('@@@k') and a partial use of ‘mother@’, the end of which has been cut short so the implied strong language is not heard in full".

"Against a backdrop of explosions, car chases and the destruction of property, there are a number of scenes featuring shootings which occasionally show brief bullet impacts, but there is no focus on blood or injury. In scenes of hand-to-hand combat we see brief punches and kicks, impressionistic rifle butt blows and an implied, but unseen, neck break. Although there are some crunchy sound effects and incidental shots of the heroes with blood on their faces and clothes, no detail of injury is shown

Oh **** off you stupid studio *****!

Yipee ki yay mother!!!!!! is the main line of the whole film and cutting the **** out is a ****ing joke.

And some hits, with unseen injuries and bullets not being seen to rip people apart. **** this **** I'm off to watch Dredd!

This film is going to be awful, the fourth was bad enough.

This x1000

The whole thing that set Die Hard and Willis apart from Arnie/Stallone/etc film was that the premise for Die hard and Die Harder was a regular guy in a crazy situation, thats what made it great. If it had been an Arnie film then in that situation he would have punched a terrorist out a window then taken his gun and killed every other terrorist in <60 seconds.

Die Hard with a vengance departed somewhat from the premise but it had to because as McClane said "how can the same **** happen to the same guy twice!?" plus the inclusion of Samuel L. Jackson and making the bad guy the brother of the first films villain (plus making all the bad guys former East German military) made it cool.

However, Live free or Die Hard (that's the proper title for Die Hard "4.0") was just a stupid mash of action on par with the expendables but where the expendables was great because it made fun of itself and knew it was an over the top action fest the last Die Hard film just expected us to believe that a guy who only survived the first film due to freak luck was now a god, and our everyday hero became just another Arnie/Stallone character, but played by a short fat man in a vest.
