For me I purchased a pre-order key of Wolfenstien the New Order and registered that at the ID website (I bought it well after it was released from a key shop).

I noticed Wolfenstien Alpha popup and vanish. But yeh the Beta is now very much there.

I Bought wolfenstien about 6 months ago...hence why I don't have the key

It looks like I did the same as you. I think CJS sent me the wrong key though, as I only paid for the base game and not the edition with the Doom beta.

Current Doom closed beta should be available to most people who bought WNO around launch as well as pre-order version I believe. (For some reason its a bit hit and miss though).

This might explain why its showing in some steam library.
The Closed Beta will be open to those who have redeemed their DOOM Beta codes included with some physical retail copies of Wolfenstein: The New Order, and to those who pre-purchased or purchased Wolfenstein: The New Order digitally prior to May 26, 2014.

Oh, just noticed the closed beta in my steam list, wasn't expecting that. Think I pre-ordered the new order, though not through steam. Be rude not to give it a try I guess!
