Well the selections were terrible to be honest I don't know how we won.

I picked first and set out my stall, this was followed by LC who then demanded jungle and 3 (yes 3!!!) supports. Disruptor, Dazzle and Rubrick though I suppose Rub and Ruptir technically aren't supports I just don't like them and chuck them in that bracket :p

Oh and despite all that support we had no wards, god knows how we won :p

Interesting lineup, what was the opposition team? I probably would have suggested, lycan solo off, rubik middle, disruptor, dazzle & LC tri-lane and get safe farm on Legion since you kind of lacked any carry. Although this would delay her 6 though.

Opposition was Zeus, Pudge, Spirit Breaker, NS and KOTL. Disruptor was mid first and apart from being a pain thinking he was pro and flaming me he played pretty solid all told.

Ended 17/13 took out all 9 towers myself but not one of them apologised or said good game

EDIT: fml, one too many Ps there.

So, besides the obvious answer of 'stop playing Ogre, scrub', what's the best way to support in lane with him? He's tanky enough that he can take a few hits, but when against a ranged support I just get forced back when trying to last hit. Obviously this is to be expected, and I try to force them back as well with my spells, but would like to hear some ideas!

He's best played as a 4 role in a tri lane I think. Melee supports are weak in general in duel lane set ups because you can't protect your carry from being right clicked out of lane. He's actually really fun to play as a mid if you don't get a horrible match up.

4/1 as Lycan now. Really enjoy the hero, I'm just working out when not to get involved in the fights :p

He's great for hiding out jungle then suddenly smashing lanes. Last game we lost but had 0 towers down until I drove the full lane and smashed up the barracks too solo.

Are there any good tactics for taking on axe as Lycan? I found him a nightmare to tackle and ended up going blade mail like axe to help with survivability afaikst him but even them he just drilled my adds and I eventually lost the fights. To be fair he out geared me heavily as he was snowballing hard which did not help things!

Anyone in here a good terrorblade player? Any tips?

Find him strange to play and his abilities somewhat conflicting as his ult and 1st skill are close combat yet others are ranged and struggle a bit to utilise him best especially as he is a wee bit squishy up close.

I have a thing for hating new heroes when they're placed in the game, so I've only just got around to playing abaddon. and boy, is he strong! :O

Rush phase boots and a yasha (which then builds into S&Y), tower chase. then go straight daedalus.

I CAME IN LIKE A WRECKING BALLLLL! :D

Hes easy. Get in melee, press q on the hero, then e to go ranged. then w to have an illusion and right click and they die. I have been playing him solo off and bee wrecking dual/tri lanes.

Don't, I'm not saying this is a bad game at all. This was my experience of this game. I played it in beta & tried again to full in love with it like LoL & other Mobas.

Are my thoughts valid & on point it for new players or is just me? can i fix my bad points and give it another try? i would like to if you can fix some of my issues

Good:
- graphics are unique and catchy

- champions are varied & very detailed in their shape etc.

- layout of the map is nice

- love removing tree's

- Can see why people love this game.

Bad:
- Even being an experienced Moba player, Dota Is hard.

- Match-Making is not good got put with players much higher than myself (lvl1 vs 10+)

- The HUD is HUGE, found no way to make it smaller. (2560x1080) its like playing through a telescope i can fit my whole two hands inside the hud on my monitor...

- The GUI/HUD/SHOP does not fit my screen. it just cuts of the edges so could not use the store to see which item build into different things. Lines went know where. is there a fix? (21:9 issue maybe?)

- The Champion selection has no information on your champion/Hero to tell you which he's abilities scale off? (did i miss this?)

- The Store Help (Build order) Is it bad? It suggested i build wand & ward things on witch doctor?, suggested nothing with Int which i expected to on a mage kind of hero

- (without smartcasting, must enable this) how can people play with the defaults? it was so hard to click at the right times. (this bad does really count to much but seems very bad for new players actually makes it harder!)

- the movement seems really clunky/snail pace to me, is it like that for all heros? without boots? do you have to buy boots to walk at a normal speed?

- so many abilities in my last game I couldn't not use because ("un-targetable, immune to magic) I felt absolutely useless, it seems if you pick a certain champion like i did (Witch Doctor) if others have immunity your pretty much 4v5? everytime trying to hit (juggarnaut? and 2 others) it just come up with immune to magic, but never a reason why. unless when he spins he's immune, but never said that? probably just a learning experience for this. but from a new players felt very bad experience

Would love to give it another go if you can help me fix some of these :D

-Yes it is hard.

-Match making doesn't work like that, its MMR and the balance is usually pretty good (can be skewed if a 6k mmr player queues with 4kmmr as generally a 6k will have such a huge impact.)

-Hud is fine for me, you played RTS games before? (Thank god the minimap is on the left like it should be.)

-Could be a 21:9 issue, post on www.dev.dota2.com and ask.

-Not sure what you mean? What items are best to build? Read the heroes before you join the game, pick one and select a guide it will tell you a semi decent item build and read your skills.

-I'm not sure if its like that in LoL but in dota you actually have to support and you can go low cost/high efficiency items on supports especially if low gold income. (Wand is good as it'll allow you to stay in fights longer giving a nice boost to mana and health when used).

-Preference thing, sucks if you're **** at clicking unfortunately, smartcasting is arse to me, hate it.

-Yes you should always get boots eventually (several different types, can be situational.) They aren't slow, there are just turning animations which play a big part in balancing the game, get used to it, no other alternative, when I play LoL or others it makes everything feel floaty and **** now to be honest.

-Yes, just a learning experience, certain abilities make them immune (i.e. Juggernaut spin, one of Pugna's skills makes him immune to autoattack for a short time). Also BKB will make you immune to most spells and Ghost Scepter to autoattack for a certain period of time, its just a learning thing.

Sorry for **** formatting, I'm lazy.-

Okay, I can understand why you think it looks like total ****.

Use the fix suggested their or play 16:9 with black bars or something?

After suggesting Lycan to you No1newts i've played a little also :D

Lost my first game but won the next 3, playing very, very greedy. I think I could probably help the team a bit more especially if I have the aegis but at the same time I am finding it so effective to just crush towers.

Going jungle from level 1 > Vlads > Brown boots > medallion > Necro (3) > Boots of travel.

That's pretty much enough but if the game hasn't ended I go AC/Deso just so towers continue to melt even faster.

You find yourself going greedy or just split pushing?

Lucan shouldn't fight axe. Certainly not on level parity as helix will kick your ass. Ideally with lucan early you go for The pick offs and squishies at the end of fights. Skull basher and medallion are a must. Blade mail should be avoided as lycan lacks the base health to make it work. He is all about the attack damage. Only defensive thing you get is bkb.

Well my good streak came to an end in magnificent fashion, got put with some horrible teams and lost 4 out of 5.

The frustrating thing is that bar one game where I couldn't get going I had really good, solid games but losing still drags the MMR down :(

Sitting around 2350 or some such at the mo, really frustrates the life out of me but keeps me coming back as I just want to win!!! :p:(:)
