It'll be like most other new hero launches. SB, LC, Ember, Terror among others.

Everyone plays them to death, everyone screams they are OP then people work out how to counter them plus the novelty wears off and then that's it, back to normal.

Im gonna have a game shortly. Will be interesting to see how people use Techies. Gonna be mines near the shops, running for a panic TP scroll is gonna be risky business lol

So glad to see they've added a character that completely ***** supports over. There was far too many people playing support after all, should balance things out.

Well LC and Terrorblade are still pretty OP.

No one thinks Techies is OP though.

:D

It is irritating as most supports are low Hp and it fills you flat or thereabouts. Easy thing to do which I was screaming at my team (and getting ignored) stay in the main lanes, technies doesn't ward them unless a team fight is coming as creeps just take them out.

It's the jungle where you get most hassle, you are basically playing against a 4 man team so take a strong push build and stick to the main lanes and you can largely ignore him (is my opinion on countering him so far but we'll see how that pans out :D:p)

Well I'm not doing very well, lost the last two games pretty hard! I played lich and ended up with the highest hero damage in each game and least deaths and in the top two highest killers each game. I warded all over and let my carry farm as much as possible while getting involved in nearly every team fight. I made sure I didn't waste my slows/stuns and got my ulti off when it counted.

Could really do with some good pointers please guys as I feel I am playing ok (for my level which is very low obviously), but we never seem to win.

Or maybe I am missing something?

To be honest mate, as long as you feel you are playing decent and not feeding it will balance out eventually.

Ive had some rage inducing losing streaks but overall Ive been happy with my own performance so its just the luck of the draw a lot of the time.

I just had a horrendous game with a **** on my team who decided to feed and tell the other team every move we made. Total butthole!

I watched this game. I am only 2.6k MMR myself so no pro at all but some observations I made:

The biggest problems were that your Tidehunter/Tinker top lane got crushed and that you are at the level where nobody knows how to deal with Bloodseeker. You didn't really help much with the first problem in that you left bottom lane for the first time at 19 minutes by which point top was already horribly lost. Lich is not the best support for ganking but he is great at counter-ganks and teamfights especially once you have your ult.

For the period of 13-19 minutes, you didn't really achieve anything at all. At 13 minutes in the game, things are looking great for you. You are lvl 11 which 2-3 levels higher than anyone on the enemy team and Bloodseeker is 8th in the game on net worth and your Sven is 1st. With that kind of advantage, you are the strongest hero on the map and you need to be looking for fights you can take part in. Instead, you spend the next 6 minutes mostly alone in bot lane against Bloodseeker often not even in exp range presumably because you are scared of being ruptured or ganked, in that 6 minutes you manage a grand total of 4 last hits and 1 deny. By 19 minutes, you are still lvl 11 and our now outlevelled by the enemy Death Prophet who is also by far the most farmed hero in the game at that point and is now ready to be a complete PITA to play against. Bloodseeker has recovered to the point where he can start being dangerous. Sniper hasn't been punished for his ridiculous Boots of Travel rush item build and your Tinker is even further behind than he was before.

Following on from that, you didn't buy a single TP scroll all game. That item is what allows you to be in the teamfights as they break out. Also, in this case of this specific match, teleporting back to your fountain allows you to escape Bloodseeker whenever he ruptures you.

While you were in the laning phase, like many new support players, you were way too passive. Lich & Sven should be a far more difficult lane for a solo Bloodseeker than you made it. You barely right-clicked Bloodseeker at all which should be an easy way to harass him given that you are ranged and he is not.

You did not upgrade the courier all game. As a support, that part of your job.

You did not buy wards until 32 minutes into the game and even then, you didn't place them. As a support, that is also part of your job. In comparison, the other team's Rubik warded all game.

Those were the biggest things you did wrong in my view. A few other things I noticed that probably didn't change that game that much but are things you should look out for:

The order you bought your items at the start was a little weird: You bought wand before boots which you should never do unless you are laning againt Bristleback or someone else you expect to be spamming abilities. Also, you kept your brown boots in your stash until you completed your full tranquil boots which almost killed you a couple of times. Remember that you can get brown boots at the side shop.

There was almost 4 minutes between the point where you could afford to complete your mek and you actually having the mek in your inventory during most of which, the courier was unused. It would be useful for you to learn how to use quick buy, that way you get an audio notification whenever you can afford to buy something.

You should be using Sacrifice at lvl 1 even though you will of course be at full mana. It forces the creep wave closer to your tower making it safer for your carry to farm and you also get experience from the creep you sacrifice.

You started the game with 525 gold so I am guessing that you randomed then repicked? Don't do that. Especially when there are only 3 heroes that you have played more than 5 times.

Overall, you were not terrible in the team fights but there were a couple of times where you forgot to use mek and some missed opportunities to ult. Also your first death was avoidable, you and Tide were never going to be able to kill a full health Bloodseeker at this point especially without either of your ultis so running across the river to do it was a little stupid.

Take this all onboard cuffy, someone giving you tips is a great thing and looking back those are all similar mistakes I made when I was new. Stick with it and you find it just starts to all come together at one point and make sense it's a way down the road though. I'm a bit over 500 games now and I'm finally happy I've got the core game down well and can the correct without consciously worrying about it.

Played my first team deathmatch last night, fun mode.

All of this is very good advice.

It might seem a bit daunting and a lot to take on board but this stuff is all very simple.

Again though, don't be disheartened, these are mistakes I made (things like warding, item purchase order, quick buys etc.) Getting these core things down really does help.

I'm still ****. So I cant really offer much in terms of improvement advice as I am still learning myself.

However there are lots of good people on here who can offer help.

Yeah thanks for the tips mate. I guess its a very good idea to watch replays back because although I didn't think I had a terrible game it was obviously not as good as I first thought.

Mainly looking back I think its my awareness of the game and whats happening is what is lacking. I don't recall ever looking and thinking I am the strongest hero at 13mins which tbh Is something I never do. Knowing when to leave my lane and to gank/harass is something I am not sure on either.

My knowledge of hero's is also lacking so I never seem to know who would be a good gank or not.

I have never used quick buy so will have to look at this

So lots of work to do :D

Overall though I am still enjoying the game and do want to learn more so your advice is most appreciated, thanks

I had 2 games last night, both had techies in obviously.

First game it was techies on my team with a tiny, toss into suicide literally just destroyed the other teams main carry each teamfight. Easy win. Funniest was the other teams Ursa running into Roshan BOOOOM dead.

Next game techies on the other team, they weren't very good and we pushed early and took the map control so he couldn't really do much. I did die to mines around runes a couple of times (playing support) other than that though as soon as you catch him, he is dead so so weak.

It's going to annoying more than anything, I don't think they are OP at all. Except if your team randoms or stupidly picks all mele, you would get ruined.

Pretty much had the same experience as you, had Techies with me for the first game and he'd been using Techies since DOTA 1, and it showed!

Second game we were against one and I picked Riki to see how he fares, wasn't pretty :D

In fact I don't think this guy even knew how to put down the hidden mines..

Wow, he's only been out less than 24 hours and already his total played time: 19y 231d 9h 57m

Still on a trip to Poland but caught some wagamama streaming techies last night, didn't seem crazy op but that's at the top pub level of course, I imagine in any tier that lets clinkz/rikki rape techies will be just as potent. You don't see ember/LC/TB every game so I'm sure it will calm down after a week or so :)

I'm watching him play Techies now and it looks like it ruins dota if a good player is on Techies.

Supports just die randomly over the map. I would never play support against Techies tbh.

I've already said the same, especially in pub.

It's hard enough to get someone to support as it is and now there's a class that just kills you whenever you walk the map :p
