I wouldn't say really good. A BKB is really good. Shadow Blade you're hoping they have no detection.

Hi..
I am starting this with my bro and some friends, I have been playing LOL for a long time and going to give this a go.
Now i had a few games last night and i suck, i never seem to have any gold. We got owned hard with zuse and razor. what is the best way to get to grips witht the game. Also is it like LOL with top mid jungle carry and support.
Sorry for the noob questions, if it any worth i was good at LOL, not so much with DOTA haha.
The standard lanes in Dota are:
2-1-2 (Two offlane, one middle, two safe lane)
1-1-3 (one offlane, one middle, tri-lane safe lane)
1-1-1-2 (one off lane, one middle, one jungle, two safe lane)
In LoL I assume you need to last hit to accumulate gold? It's the same in Dota except if you keep dying before you spend that gold, then you will be losing large chunks of it.

This will answer pretty much all your questions. Bit long but worth it if you plan on getting into it.
So how do you know what lane set up to use lol. would it just depends what the other team has gone.

I know people might not agree with me but real talk.
As an Ex Phantom Lancer main, i find his new changes made him even more OP against some setups. It's borderline impossible to tell which is which now and his illusion rate seems to be a LOT more likely to spawn, which really sucks.
Mainly because this was single draft and i got given phantom, i felt the game was an absolute breeze, and then i played against him in ranked and Christ a life it was absolutely terrifying.
I can't help in any useful way as I'm still starting out myself. But I've wondered how easy it is to switch between MOBAs as a friend at work keeps telling me to play LoL and I figured once I've somewhat mastered Dota then I should have a good platform to start LoL. So interesting to hear that you found that isn't so, at least LoL -> Dota 2.
Impossible to tell which is which? I find it much easier. Especially when he uses his W. Atleast he doesn't have stealth now, but hes a lot worse to fight against.
If you're expecting to master dota any time soon, you're going to have a bad time. And Dota2 is much harder than LoL. Should convince your friend to play dota instead of you playing LoL, no need to downgrade.
I did too when I first started, then I tried it again a few months later and not stopped playing it since. Probably has something to do with the turn rate though, every LoL player seems to complain about that.
Turn rate?
I played like 1.4k games of dota then tried LoL and was ****ing awful at it. But I'm also ****ing awful at dota so maybe it does carry across.
