^ better than most people with 2000 games... just tunnel vison for kills and never interesting in helping others.

Gaben said in an interview he only played sand king for the longest time, then the maker of the game (icefrog) made him random for the rest of his games for him to get used to other roles.

I think I played around 20 games as Windrunner before I started even playing other heroes. Knowing what the heroes you are playing against can do to you is really useful and can help a lot.

Just random and hope you don't get Meepo/Invoker/Pudge.

Is there a way to randomly choose a hero then, cos' I can't see it (so it must be super obvious, I'll probably kick myself . . . ).

Yup, I do this a lot. Cant help it though :/ Just focus on the kill and forget about my team >_>

Get 853 gold if you random, instead of the default 603, but if you repick you go down to 503 gold.

I'd say new players should do plenty of randoming to start with to learn all the skills.

But it's always good to have a couple of heroes you've played a lot to fall back on - lion, bane, litch are good as they can help the team even if under farmed and under levelled.

Is it normal even in the "training" games to get completely rolled, like so one sided I wanted to give up right there? From the very outset our team was being destroyed within seconds of each re-spawn, we didn't even do damage to one of their towers. Ended with their heroes all level 16-20 and us on level 6-8. I think the kill total was something like 50-3 in their favour. Even in the other game I lost it was close fought for at least the first half the match, with the other team gradually gaining the upper hand. This felt like they had won in the first 2 minutes.

I'll jump back in a bit later today but I honestly can't see what I could have done differently by myself, did I just get unlucky and have a completely rubbish team? The game did take a LONG time to form, I was put back into the matchmaker 5 times as the group wouldn't form, the distance meter at the top was all the way to the right by the time it found a valid match.

Its possible that they were experienced players creating new accounts to simply dominate new players.

Or because the search range had gone so wide it could have put experienced people in who are only there to get the items you get for completing the tutorials.

Either way there will be some games like that occasionally at the beginning (and 2000 games in :p) you just have to chalk them up to experience.

I guessed sometimes it just happens. I'm struggling to figure out how to play most other heroes when I use random to choose one, the learning curve appears to be near vertical!

Hey guys. Just putting my name in this thread as I started playing properly about 3 days ago and really really enjoying it. Just watching youtube videos and learning more as I go. Really trying to get used to items and trying out a few different types of Heroes to see how I like to play. I was playing Enigma quite a lot but unless you have someone ready to deal some damage when you have them grabbed then he gets quite boring. Trying my hand at Riki at the moment as I like ganking and hiding so he's a lot of fun.

Feel free to add me on Steam. Also have Mumble as well as the ability to host a mumble server.

Do you have a match ID for the game? I could have a gander and give you some tips if you like.

Join the OcUK channel and ill send you a guild invite. Seems to a few new people playing recently and there's some regulars that are doing some games together but you might wanna play a bit before grouping up with people that have 100s of games behind them because it'll drag you up the matchmaking system

Thanks but I don't think it's needed. I've just replayed it myself and watching it back I can now see what a complete muppet I was. Getting drawn into the fight and spanked by two enemy ranged heroes while I was blocked from escaping by the creeps. I need to figure out how to play a melee hero, I tend to do ok with ranged ones. I can't figure out how to get some last strikes and exp without getting a little too close to the action.

Priced it about 60p above the market average and it still sold.

Not sure if I got ripped off or not but thats paid for the compendium I bought so I'm happy with that. May there be many more :)

The item I got free with the compendium also more than covered the cost of it so I was happy. Who are all these people out there spending real money on these things? I've made dozens of pounds over the last week with the summer cards, TF2 items and Dota items.

try not to get into bad habits with riki, he's highly positional and while invis is fine in lower ranks, above medium you'll get dusted and murdered pretty quick just for existing, no one likes him :( just remember you can leap to friendly creeps and heroes for most getaways.

Enigma - as in jungling or lane? He's a good hero to learn multi unit management on and if you like this then you can always move over to Natures prophet fairly easily if you want to carry more.

It's Quantic vs Rattlesnake for the wildcard tonight, should be a good match.

Quite a monumental prize pool.

I'll be watching what I can though I will be away for a portion of it. How do the spectator drops work on the international games?
