Just started playing this but my god is it ever full of idiots. Hal;f the time people disconnect from the game when theyre losing and ruin it or theyre just complete muppets.

Yeah its like the for the first 50 or so games then it gets better, very rarely does anyone disconnect from my games, like 1 in 100 :p

Hi Guys,

I've been a member of OCUK for a longgg time, but have only started playing DotA2 recently. I have played a lot in that time as I have become rather enamoured with it! Feel free to add me on steam, user: kinoble

Thanks for starting the thread OP!

If we set up a training session or 2 for the weekend, would anyone be interested?

We'd need 2 pros to volunteer who're willing to basically captain a bunch of noobs for a while and not do much else, which could be just broadcasting and talking over chat and helping people in what to do, which means 10 noobs could join, or if they want to be in the game too, then have 8 noobs in per game.

Could run over some more basics in depth, like; Denying, last hitting, general rules of thumb for items (Supports and carries), helping with any particular hero people may want to learn, positioning, initiating, chasing, pushing towers, when to fall back, when to switch lanes, warding etc.

The in-house games are fun, but I feel 1 or 2 training sessions would be of far more benefit to everyone.

Atm it's just a thought, to see if there's any interest from both noobs and (patient) pros alike.

But on a serious note do we have any good Lone Druid players here? Really want to keep improving as him since he is one of my favourite heroes alongside Invoker.

Actually this training idea doesn't sound bad, I wouldn't mind some general training, for example, times when I should be looking to go in for kills, when I should be farming, where I should be farming, when I should be pushing, what lane I should push, and also good times to go and defend, I also think stuff on positioning would help. Basically I just need tonnes of help in general.

If you like a char, YouTube a guide on it. If you start a 5v5 team I'd be interested in joining. I prefer mid laning and my best char is Puck. Played about 500 games I think now. Might be 400

You need to go learn to last hit in lane.

When to farm is easy, when you aren't pushing a lane or team is going for a kill. Also bare in mind if you're team is going somewhere for a gank it might just be as easy to get TP from sideshop and TP when necessary.

I'm up for some educational games over weekend though, I did try last night to help my team and asked them to say when they needed help.

Just watch from admiral bulldogs perspective in the international 3 finals, he's the best LD (and arguably Furion/natures prophet too) in the world right now.

Purdys right that that the number one thing to learn is last hitting for carries and from min 15 you always carry a town portal scroll. ABF - Always be farming.

Minimap awareness is critical to understanding your current options, if you see all 5 of them in bot (which you hopefully retreated from as you had it warded) then go farm & push the other lanes, punish their rotation. Supports are key here, they can focus on who's where a lot more because they only need to keep the carry safe and stack etc...

There's a last hit tutorial you might be interested in (it's in beta phase, in console type dota_tutorial_start lasthit).

i've been playing this for about a week and i have to admit i am seriously addicted, the learning curve is very steep but i am getting there slowly lol, i enjoy playing as Razor, Death Prophet and Windrunner. Always willing to learn and play when i can so any tips and tricks are more than welcome haha, feel free to add me to steam (in sig)

Been watching my old match replays from a neutral point of view and I think it's by far the way of self-improvement.The number of times I found my hero just sitting still or walking around not farming or gaining xp is shocking.

I like watching pro players or casters stream not only for the entertainment but to learn.Below is short clip of a Queen of pain player who mind you is in the very top tier ranking.. making so many mistakes that I would have made also not gonna lie :p

Mid player(tusk)is pro player(iceiceice) one of the best if not the best in the world right now.

icex3 is probably the best laning mid in the world, not sure about the rest of the game though :p

That QoP was crap, I don't believe I would've died to that, certainly not twice. Was he on a smurf?

I could lend a hand if people need, i'm not exactly pro but I know the mechanics well and the majority of heroes skills / interactions and should be able to impart that knowledge onto some fresh meat.

Great, looks like we have 2 people who're willing to teach the noobs, Purdy & Jongo.

I'm signing up as one of the noobs, I'm guessing Anuraj wants to as well, anyone else interested?
