**Official Duke Nukem Forever Thread**

I found it quite the opposite. The game for me was realy stupid and fun just like DN3D all those years ago. Reminded me why I got in to PC gaming! :D
 
So glad I have the PC version, because the 360 version I bought for my dad is HORRIBLE in comparison. It feels so choppy which is puzzling because the graphics aren't that demanding for the 360. The PS3 version is supposed to be closest to the PC in performance I hear, but it won't beat the PC's textures though. Really surprised they felt the game was finished enough with the shocking graphics and performance it has on the 360.:o

Indeed. It is and was always going to be a Duke Nukem game. Expecting anything more was silly and always going to end up dissapointing. Its a very fun old school shooter. Its a very good game doing whats its doing.
 
Is the game worth getting?
I have been looking forward too it for ages but don't fancy splashing 40 quid for it too turn out ***k.

It isn't worth a tenner. I loved the old Duke 3D, it has none of its charm. It trys so hard at being funny and fails on every level. The boss fights are so tedius and easy. The weapons look like crap and feel like crap. The gfx are awful.
 
If you are a Duke fan then it is worth it just because it is Duke Nukem .. however it is not to be compared with other FPS games of recent because it is slightly outdated having been in development for so long!

Well worth it. If you're paying £40 your being ripped off though. You can get it for £22 apparently, and it's only £30 on Steam...

I'm quite enjoying it :)

But the attempts at provocative women fails due to the 5yr old graphics! I mean the strip club 'reward' for finding the three items, is just cringable due to the poor animation/graphics!

Yeps, OC totally stable, 12 hours + Prime stable and has been for a long while.

Updated Gfx driver before End May 2011 (ATI - 11.5 CAP 1 ??)

I did notice that Steam updated Direct X 9 as part of Duke Installation, Visual C ++ 2008 Redistributable and added AMD Dual Core Optimiser?

I have now deleted these two items and rolled back to 11.4 ATI cats,, still fail.

I have noticed that as it crashes and the screen goes black, it sends the monitor into standby mode?

What is happening?

I didnt think HL2 was very good tbh... this always comes to mind when i think about it


but yeah im quite disappointed with DNF i dont think it has the same sort of gameplay like the 3D and not really a fan of the enviroments its set in so far

So I received the game this morning...
After reading so many comments, am wonder if its worth playing this but rather just sending it back via DSR

Anyways, I finished it and I gotta say I actually enjoyed the game from start to finish! It was exactly as I expected and unlike a few I took the game for what it was.

Has anyone checked out the Extras and in particular the Movies? Some of the E3 videos from 2003-6 gameplay stuff actually looked pretty good! Nice to have the 2001 trailer included as it really was one of the best game trailers of all time.
