*** Official Elder Scrolls MMO Thread ***

The start of a game is generally the best time to tell (or at least hint/nudge) players what to do. Being dropped off somewhere with no quests or anything in a brand new game is the sort of thing that quickly turns people off.

As the players advance and the story opens up its a lot easier to just leave them to find stuff on their own.

But the prophet gives you a hint as soon as you get there, or at least he did in the Nord starting area?

Anyway, I found it quite refreshing not to be told to go do something immediately. It was very elder scrolls to just have the whole world to explore from the start.

Anyway I've seen enough that I know I'm going to like it, so I'm saving myself for release. I'll spend the time until then planning builds :D

Slightly bummed that dark elves are still so damned ugly though :)

I received a beta code for this recently, will download and test it out once I've finished writing 3000 words on a poem from the late 1500's :o.

Any basic tips?

Well some general thoughts (in no particular order)

- I like the ability progression a lot. It's very elder scrolls how it works and I find that more realistic than getting better through levelling.
- Because of the above I find I got much more of an RPG feel as opposed to an mmo feel to progression and what my character was doing. I like this a lot, great touch and much more engaging.
- graphics are good, I generally liked the mans better than I remembered.
- I liked being dumped into the world. Whilst for a moment my brain melted at actually melted at the thought of being treated like an adult after I got my bearings it was a really refreshing change.
- combat still very floaty to my eyes and at times I was struggling to work out if I had hit the enemy, generally decent but needs a little work.
- lag, because of the gameplay style could end up completely game breaking in this game, especially in pvp. The amount of times I lagged and things dived around me killing me was pretty horrific but I would hope this doesn't get too out of hand in large battles.
- the story and quests scattered which drives a bit of exploring was a good touch.

All in all it hasn't done quite enough to convince me into an early purchase as I have a relatively busy April, instead I'll pick it up early May if things are still looking solid. Impressed with how they have moved it on ad it far exceeds my initial expectations.

I logged in last night for a total of about 10mins, found my lvl7 dude with a bow totally gimp for his level on the quest i was doing, and proceeded to log out.

I want to try the PVP but im not going to bother trying to get this character to 10, not this weekend, i dont have the time, and release is not far away anyhow, so will just sit tight until then.

Nightblade is the most obvious, with a Khajiit or Bosmer (if you don't mind those races) but you can use anyone. You can also make a good hunter/archer from a Templer or Sorcerer.

Have an experiment and see what fits your playstyle best.

Is anyone else having black screen/graphics driver crashes this weekend? I get them over and over, never had them on the last beta. Tried different drivers etc. GTX 780Ti.

I think its the graphics card as I only received it last night (off the MM). I want to make sure its not the game before I mention it.

I'm fine and i've not heard any mention of it. Sounds like it might be the card :(

Try other games, do some stress testing or benchmarking to make sure.

Thing is the only game Im going to be playing this weekend and in the near future (now I've bought it) is this, so it has to work with this.

Ive put my GTX780 back in and been fine so far...

Well I thought I would give this whirl so I downloaded it and left it till today to play. I run the launcher, hit install and it just downloads the entire thing again. Second time it's happened now....any ideas?!

I posted before in this thread.

Browse to where you installed the game.

Copy the Elder Scrolls Online folder and paste it again in exactly the same folder creating a folder called Elder Scrolls Online - Copy. Rename the Elder Scrolls Online - Copy to Elder Scrolls Online EU. So you should now have 2 folders Elder Scrolls Online and Elder Scrolls Online EU both 30gb in size.

Load the launcher up and it will ask you if you want to migrate to the European version, Click Decline and decline again.

Then in the top right hand corner click the cog wheel and select the European megaserver. Apply and click play.

You should now be playing the game.

Blimey, they don't like to make it simple to play do they. Good job I enjoyed it when I played a few months ago.

I'll let you know if it works. Currently have 17gig left and the it's already created a folder called "Elder Scrolls Online EU". I don't have just the "Elder Scrolls Online" folder though so I guess I will create that instead and see what happens.

I don't know how everyone is getting all the hassle. I played on US then today I get a message asking me to convert to EU. Clicked and 30secs later it had changed everything and I was playing.

I had uninstalled a few weeks ago but left the launcher in place. Guess it doesn't like something I did!

Does imperial racial have any benefits? It says experience, so leveling faster?

Do racials mean much in the endgame? the percentages benefits seem quite high compared to other mmo's.
