*** Official Elder Scrolls MMO Thread ***

Agreed. I had a read of it last night. Out of interest - how long do you think it will take an average gamer to reach VR10 just by questing & not utilising the zerging & farming strategies he mentions?

Erm depending on how you play, from 1 - VR10 about 4 hours a day, about 5-6 weeks.

EDIT:

I'm out of the thread now. Take care.

So glad I got an invite for the Beta, all that hype was to good to be true.

+1 on this, Was looking forward to this, So much hype. Thought it was awful on the beta from what ive been reading full game isn't much better.

Well, The first few betas were really terrible. I didn't enjoy them at all, but the last beta showed something of how good a game ESO could be. It was after the last beta that I decided to buy it.

Despite all the flaws, and there are many, the game has one very redeeming feature. It is very enjoyable to play and for me it's the first game in while that I keep wanting to go back to.

There are bugs, but no MMO ever released has been bug free at launch. The biggest problem I have is the bots at the moment. Other than that I think Zenimax can and hopefully will improve gameplay, crafting and content over the next few months. And they really should because they have the base for a very good MMO, beautiful world, interesting character development etc.

Even if I don't subscribe, I still think it was worth the money to buy. And will probably sub to it as well. As I said I am just enjoying the game too much.

Angry Joe's video review of the game pretty much sums it up for me.

The game is average at best, yes it has some good bits, but it also has many bad bits.

Incredibly annoying bloke, don't see how anyone would want to watch those but he makes a lot of good points, particularly about the absolute mess which is actually grouping up and the general multiplayer part of what is meant to be a largely multiplayer game. Also about the blandness of the content.

Yep, well the people who gave me a copy have all but stopped playing it. It's like the makers didn't want people to actually play together through the content and even if treated as a single player game it fails at all levels. Elder Scrolls should have been a AAA release but Zen have managed to dilute and make a really poor buggy console attempt at an MMO.

It is somewhat terrifying that no one at any point in the development of the game has considered how their content would work if you're grouped... It's not even just one or two things there are scores upon scores of quests that just fall apart entirely when you're grouped up, that should surely be one of their primary thoughts when designing any bit of content, how does it work in an open/closed multiplayer environment?

You know what....I bought TESO on a whim for £25 while I had a couple of weeks off work and for the most part I was really enjoying myself, until I watched that Angry Joe review...it seemed to really put me off the game highlighting issues that went straight over my head when playing, which is strange as I never listen to other peoples opinions and take most reviews with a pinch of salt.

Just hit VR10(EP) tonight, really enjoyed it and looking forward to craglorn although I hope it's a few weeks away yet.

Love the crafting and the skills, I've had a few bugs on the way but they are quick to fix most of them so haven't been that bad really.

Veteran ranks have kinda got a vanilla wow feel IMO, the difficulty is certainly a step up to 1-50 and the world can be very dangerous at times.

Well I think it's because it asks a very pertinent question which maybe you hadn't asked yourself already which is, "What does this game do better than Skyrim, that justifies me playing it over that?" And lets be honest here the answer is not a lot at all, especially if you're not into the zergy PvP. Beyond that it is pretty much a (average at best) single player game that you have to pay a sub for.

I'm still enjoying it. I started the PVP a few days ago and it was amazing - so much going on at once.

It's the first MMO I've really played - I used the free month of WoW, tried LOTRO and played Guildwars 1 and 2 but they never really kept my interest. LOTRO online I was too late and it was f2p, and i'm not really into f2p. Guild wars 1 I loved and played for a few years, guild wars 2 just wasn't as interesting. WoW never held my interest, the quests were just too boring and everyone else had been playing for years and years and I just felt too far behind.

Luckily with ESO, I started (few weeks late) near the start, the quests are interesting and fun and the exploration, PVP, music etc are excellent.

Why would you let it put you off? I watched the review and couldn't really disagree with any of the points he made but I think he exaggerated them massively, excluding the questing in groups stuff which is a bit shocking.

For the most part the quests are engaging and fun, much more so than most MMOs and I've found bugs to be few and far between. I'm level 42 now and still enjoying it very much.

I think it's pretty unfair to judge an MMO against a single player RPG experience as many people seem to want to do, of course the questing isn't going to be as polished as Skyrim but ESO offers so much more, the PvP is certainly the highlight for me which is only as zergy as you want it to be.
