That is what I want from a MMO to have the dedicated healers and tanks...still not sure if I want to frop 50quid on it though. What is the end game like or is this focused on PvP more?

For dedicated end game MMOers, ESO will feel lacking. There are a decent number of Veteran Dungeons and also Dragonstar Arena normal and Veteran version (which is awesome 4 man content, Vet version is pretty brutal).
For 'raid' like content you have 3 raid zones, 2 of which are more of an introduction to raids, the 3rd is harder. The raids are much shorter than you will be used to, Leaderboards exist for competitive players to compete with finishing faster/with less deaths etc. than others.

I am not a hardcore raider, so what they have is more than good enough for me for now, but hardcore endgamers will probably be disappointed.

well I spent most of the day playing this and I only meant to login for an hour to see what the changes were like.

I like GW2, but, I sometime feel I am just following the masses doing the dailys and nothing else. Whereas with ESO I start playing then find myself forgetting all about the time and wander around exploring, doing the odd quest, crafting whatever.

The hours is takes to get to the endgame is what after 9 months made me cancel my sub. It wasn't a bad experience, It was quite good but almost seemed a solo game for all that time so not worthy of a sub. It was all just very familiar too, in effect getting to end game content is levelling 1-50 three times and thats still a way off max level.

Now the sub has gone I will continue my journey. I'm currently vet level 7 of 14. The endgame stuff would have come around vet 10 pre patch but with the new changes lower vet levels get adjusted to match to levels of the other players in a group so they can join in.

The Vet content can be a grind for some - I think people suffer from quest fatigue at that point. The 1-50 questing was a lot of fun imo.
The biggest issue with Vet content and lvling comes from palyer mentality of feeling the need to be max lvl with the belief that is where a game starts. The game is designed with a TES mentality, so the idea is that the journey is a big part of the game. If you are eager to get to end game, you will get a bit frustrated with Vet lvls, if you are in no rush to get there then it can be fun.
As with most MMOs, it is important to get yourself a decent Guild to do things with, otherwise you will find you do just solo your way through until end game. With a Guild, as soon as you hit Vet 1 you will easily be able to experience dungeons (and depending on Guild you could even experience the lower dungeons long before that)

Think I'm gonna give this another go starting this weekend.

I remember getting as far as the foresty area before abandoning it but did kind of enjoy my time in game.

I'm hoping things have improved.

Have a look around for the original ESO game. Apparently that is selling cheaper than the 'Unlimited' and it still gives you the same access to the game.

I got mine off rainforest for 24.99, It is the old non Tamriel Unlimited box, its all the same thing. But it is a shame that the CD key cannot be added to steam.

Currently leveling a Nord Templar, didn't fancy Argonian like I did during the beta, the tail annoyed me after a while. Any Ebonheart Pact guilds with folks from on here?

Loaded it up today for the 1st time since January, so much has changed I feel a bit lost now, only 2 months ago we were going for 3k hp & about 1.5k dps, now I see talk of 20k hp & 15k dps o0 numbers seem hugely inflated to just 2 months back.

I have 3 high level chars, dk, sorc, & nb, & not sure which one I want to play right now, my dk was a tank, but I'm hearing good things about 2h dk dps, champ system has given me a real problem there, before I could do both, now it seems I would have to specialise as one until I've got a lot of champ points.

Anyone up to date on endgame dps could give me a rough idea which classes should be pulling what kind of dps?

The stat inflation is related to the 1.6 patch, with the implementation of the Champ system they also changed the way stats worked so that people could actually see the impact of champ points. So it's not a case of stat inflation in that gear has suddenly jumped to crazy levels, simply a direct conversion of old stats into new.

20k hp is the general aim for DPS classes. 15kdps is not the norm though. That is for extreme end with perfect gear etc. What you want to be aiming for is 8k dps - that is sufficient for all content in game. From there you can worry about perfecting your rotations and gear and tweaking your build to start pushing further.
Very, very few people reach 15k dps. A break down would be:
8k+ is entry level end game dps - enough to complete content and something your average guild would be very happy with.
10k+ is the advanced end game dps - this is where you want to aim to get to as you do more and more raids and beome more familiar with your build.
12k+ is what high end Guilds will be wanting their players to get, this kind of dps is beyond the capability of majority of the population.
15k+ is the high end, hardcore, top 10 on the Leaderboard chasers. A very, very small minority will be reaching this standard.

As a DK you can tank and DPS without issue. Even better, you want to be 2h DPS, which means stamina based, which means in terms of Champion system they work perfectly together - Stamina regen and reduced stamina costs is a big deal for both roles, so you have no issues making both tank and DPS
The Warrior constellation of the champ system offers nothing for DPS anyway, it is all about survivability which means focusing on improving tank without sacrificing your DPS. The Thief is where the Stamina regen and reduction I mentioned before is, and is pretty much all about resource management, so focusing on those two is most important for your roles. Mage offers nothing for tank but The Ritual is dedicated to stamina DPS, so your Mage points would go all in there, again, having no negative impact on your tank.

Ok so took the plunge and got this after I've heard good things about how it's come on since release.

Does anyone have any links to decent beginners guides and/or any tips for complete noobs please?

The main thing to get your head around is that the character class really just determines what your spell selection will be. You can have sorcerers in plate armour and dual wielding, and dragon knights in cloth waving healing staves around, if you really want to.

Roll a DK ;P

Apart from the official forums which have improved a lot recently.

http://tamrielfoundry.com/ is ok for builds etc
http://www.esoui.com/addons.php for adds ons - See how you go but i couldnt live without some mods.

What kind of character are you looking to play?

I've started a couple of characters, a Nord Dragon Knight want to go plate & 2-handed sword & an Imperial Nightblade who I want to be an archer.
