*** Official Elder Scrolls MMO Thread ***

The face palm aimed in my direction, now that is a bit silly. Im sorry but i play swtor and used to play LOTRO and have them at max settings they still look better graphics than what i saw in that video. If the the game looked like it does in the screenshots, then yeah it would pee all over the MMOs in the graphics department.Crazy man.

Does that screenshot look anything like what you saw in that video, seriously.

If you take either of those two games, film them in a starting zone, and then upload them to youtube you'll find them looking no better, a lot of definition is lost in a moving video of a game like that, which is obviously present in a stationary screenshot.

If you look at the video he spends most of his time looking down at the ground, look at the ground in the screenshot and you'll find the exact same bland ground texture and grass which could have come from 2005. Those screenshots are selected to show scenery.

I'm perfectly happy to hear criticisms about the gameplay, I fully expect it to be terrible and that video has done nothing but persuade me otherwise but all I see is people complaining about the graphics, and they are perfectly acceptable.

Looking at the video and then the screenshots on the site it seems that they are advertising a much better looking than really is.

There is a chance that like many games the settings are locked at the minimum until they are ready to test graphics and performance compared to the majority of other features.

Putting graphics aside, the combat needs a lot of work, its very bland and something we have seen time and time again, kill rats, get rat toes, hand it in, jeez come on....

So can I claim a +1 that generic garbage is looking like generic garbage?

I'm still hoping we get a genre move on but I'm not shocked that ESO isn't it.

Its going to be a long time before the genre moves on.
GW2 tried and promised so much, but it never delivered (ruined by the entire game being grind centered and repetitive)
It certainly improved on some things which will influence future MMO's, but changing the genre is going to take a long time......

But from the video on this game, it seems to have taken a step back (a big step)

He seems to be actively trying to make the game look worse than it is. And he's an objectively terrible player.

ESO looks very generic, but I'd like to see the same area run by someone who didn't have difficulty getting off the 2 room ship at the start ;)

that does look pretty awful but I still wait till I get into the beta myself ,(this is from the video and he is playing on what I guess the current max settings) but looks like they might be able to improve the visuals with higher res textures but I doubt it will make it that much different

smaller images please if you're embedding them in a post :)

Regarding early screens / trailers looking better than recently leaked footage, ESO originally started out life on a licensed engine and has been moved over to an in-house engine.

Now it could be that graphic presets in the beta don't do anything or the leaker himself has deliberately hobbled the fidelity to troll. There's no way to know.

Personally I'm not going to jump to any conclusions based on this leak. Better to wait for the open beta tbh.

Makes me laugh, the amount of people raging at the poor graphics and animations.

You can see in the video quite clearly, some graphics are higher definition then others.

I remember SWTOR when it was like this, Guild Wars 2, WoW and many other beta games.

But each to there own.

check out this video from PAX East this year, http://vimeo.com/62714951. Looks a lot better than what was leaked yesterday, it has more of that Skyrim look to it.

Just proof that whatever was leaked yesterday was in some kind of restricted beta form for testing.
