*** Official Elder Scrolls MMO Thread ***

Hmmm exploring and crafting with OMG BARRELS AND STUFF IN TOWNS isn't really all that groundbreaking coming from previous ES games. I guess it's a nice touch to keep it in and add a bit to it.

Elder scrolls online

I applied for the beta, any news on this? Is the beta open yet? Any release date?

I leave the country for over a year in 5 months... I am worried I won't get a chance to play before then haha.

Soo, by all accounts its been pushed back to 2014, and it's coming out on the next gen consoles, link here

As MS have said they don't care for supporting MMO's on the xBone, rumors abound TESO may not even be a MMO anymore. More Multiplayer TES - I believe the head dude has been seen commenting lots recently on the benefit of multiplayer aspects.

This has super fail written all over it.

This game now has the potential to be a bigger fail than the last FF MMO (FF14?), ive purposely stayed away from TESO, and know very little about it other than skimming forums occasionally, and it seems more people are losing confidence by the day.

I love the whole Elder Scrolls series of games and was trying to not get too hyped for this, and just wanted to buy it at launch and experience it all as a total TESO noob, to capture those moments of wonder, however i got a weird feeling this games going to be a huge let down :(

You guys find it strange that people are negative on the internet? That people 'lose confidence' without knowing much about the game and not seen the final product?

How weird.

No, people lose confidence as the head guy is making silly claims constently, add in rumors about how the game was overhauled less than a year ago, Bethsada have zero confidence in the title and are scared it will screw the IP and now we have confirmation it will come to the console market. Its looking less and less like a traditional MMO and more like a poor imititation of a ES game with some crappy multiplayer tacked on.

Its because people jump on the bandwagon, instead of waiting to see, to try it themselves before dumping all over something, thinks its, I wanna feel important factor ...'the game will fail, blah blah'

Time will tell if this game is good or not, I'm certainly not going to bash it from the little I know and loads of unsubstantiated rumors.

Where's the rumours? Do we go off rumours? Where did you read Bethesda have zero confidence in the title?

I'm only asking as I've been following this very closely and didn't see any of this mentioned. If it helps, I don't follow its official forums as I don't like dealing with hysterical clueless kids. So if it's posted there, I wouldn't have seen it.

Yep, this has always been the case. Dummies trying to impress other dummies.

I KNOW there's been very little information released on this. A few gameplay videos and the odd 'review' hardly counts.

Anyway, thus is the way of the internet. Gives a platform to all sorts of cluless morons.

I'm not commenting on the quality of this game or not but we have all seen the hype machine on any MMO and they tend to fail to deliver. I think cynicism is a lot wiser than calling people dumb and moronic for being a cynic, plus being insulting is highly ironic, though we have seen it before in the MMO threads.

The safe money would be on the cynics being right.

This tbh.

I don't bother with official forums in the main either.

The Rerolled.org forum is your friend for MMO news/leaks - nothing fancy just a load of guys that have played MMO's for years. If you can get past the EQ fapping going on in the main there are some good snippets about new releases hidden away (the folks that post there used to be the fohguild message boards where you had devs and others in the know post regularly).

Also if you are following TESO closely (as you claim), you will know Matt Firor has been making stupid claim after stupid claim recently, just check out the numerous interviews on youtube.

Is right, I too was suckered in once upon a time. Bought it all hook line and sinker, shame on me.

In the main though, MMO development cycles are circular - new game announced - useless devs hired - work on game - game relases and 'fails' - devs fired - new game annouced - same devs hired - etc etc

Specifically regarding TESO though, just look at how they have gone about getting information out about the game and Wildstar, night and day.
