I know its a BS question but can you "sell" me this mmo in terms of previous ones.

Is it EQ2'ish, Is it 1s global cooldowns Rift/SWTOR? Is it DAOC siege warfare ?
is it Classic Warrior/rogue/healer/mage or free spec Ultima online SWG ?

Sorry to be a pidgeon hole'r I dont think this laptop is upto spec to play 2.4ghz I7 8gb ram and a 460M GTX :(

You have 4 classes which you can pick from. They each give you 3 sets of talents which you can intermix, so your not locked to 1 set of talents.

Then you have Armour talents which are Light, Medium and Heavy, again with there own set of talents.

Then you have weapon, which is 2h, 1h and shield, Bow, Staff, Duel Wield and so on, they all have their own unique talents.

Then you have Racial Talents, Guilds Talents, Crafting Talents and PvP talents.

Oh and you can be a Vampire or Werewolf.

So you can make a Heavy Armour wearing Mage, who stealths and uses a Bow, for example.

The way you make your class is up to you.

You have 2k v 2k PvP world combat which they call AvA. Its basically Cyrodiil from Oblivion, with 3 factions fighting for the main city.

Its a game about exploration, there is very little in the way of hand holding. So you don't have a Wildstar Fed Ex style questing, where the NPC's give you pointless quests to move you from one area to the next, you have to find them.


This video was made 8 months ago, so a lot of the things like the animations have been improved.

No cooldowns (your skills are only hamstrung by your management of whatever resource it uses ie. stamina, magika ect).

Yes, very much DAOC siege PvP. The main guys from that are the ones making this; they've even hinted there is going to be a DF style dungeon in Cyrodiil (the massive PvP area)

Mix of both. The trinity is there and there are four archetypes, but other than picking said archetype (each has three skill lines) you can pick and choose whatever skills you want from any weapons/armour/racial/world/other lines I don't want to spoil. For instance, Latex has posted a PvP vid a few pages ago of a Sorcerer using a bow and stealthing about to pick off stragglers. He was switching to 1 handed and shield when in melee range (you can switch weapons at 15). There is a lot of theorycrafting and experimentation with skills.

I'm an ex-SWG(Farstar) and EQ2 (Nektulos, then Lavastorm then Splitpaw due to server shut downs) and it carries the slightly slower nature of EQ2 compared to WoW IMO and heopfully it's going to be my MMO of choice until EQN or the SWG EMU becomes stable with the full complement of professions.
 
Yep. It's only clicking on something then selecting US from the drop down menu.

It appears we've all been testing on the US megaserver anyway, so there shouldn't be any issues with having to make new characters or anything. I think this is the last big test for the US server and they'll have another test, with the new changes, for the EU server in a couple of weeks.
 
You mean, Ratonga - with the hex editor so it has a snappy Jazz kat mustache/goatee combo - for life ;)

It does start slow and the Dominion starter is said to be a better starter area (I never found it so) but give it a chance, try and get to 10 or so and give PvP a shout (can get in at 10) before you dismiss it; it really has the most uneven enjoyment factor of any MMO I've played (and I played Dark and Light ffs!)
