Lots of pictures to come in the future hopefully.
Building a quadcopter by the way, multiwii with TG3200/BMA180/BMP085/HCL5883L.
Using the Paris breakout with arduino pro mini. 18A ESC, 12 A motors, Wood frame with carbon fiber legs.

I`m very interested in this and would be grateful if you could post a build log, either in here or a different thread.

cheers

Anyone know where I can get a Unipolar Stepper Motor Driver with potentiometer contol? Found one on Quasar Electronics but its been discontinued :( Looking for one sub £30, either preassembled or in kit form, but no programming needed.

The Pololu A4983 is also a really good driver for around £10 with current control and it does 1/16th microstepping. It's a Bipolar driver but if your stepper has 6 or 8 wires then you can drive it in bipolar mode. It comes in the form of a breakout board so you can mount it on breadboard or solder in some sockets to allow it to be removable. It may look complicated with all the pins but it is really easy to use, you will need a microcontroller to drive it though, as will most stepper drivers.

So I've caved in and bought a 'Sven' Nixie clock kit from nixiekits.eu . Also have some IN-8-2's on the way to use with it. Won't be able to build it until after my jan exams though but will put up some pictures when I do!

Just been building my IN-8-2 nixie kit from PVelectronics, NX5 does not appear to work at all. Seems like a dodgy tube. Theres voltage to the pins, but no display :(. I have emailed them. I wanted to get it finished today! Spend hours playing with it and my new iron!

Can anyone help identify what sort of circuit/controller this is?

Its from an LED Lamp display kit with about 4/5 LED Marker lamps (commercial vehicle led lamps) which turn on and off one at a time in a sequence.

Trying to find out what this is so I can make a few of these myself for as this is only a sample.

Any help would be great.

Cheers.

Ok got my nixie "Six Nix" kit with tubes which I had for Xmas. Yet to get a power supply & am absolutely brassic til payday at the end of the month.

Can I simply use the 12 volt direct current from a spare PC PSU by splicing it to a suitable plug? Just until I can afford to buy a proper powerpack?

Yep, it'll work fine. be careful not to short anything as PC PSU's can deliver rather impressive amounts of current :)

While rooting around I found a 12v adaptor with an old router which all works fine, I had to change routers when I switched ISP's.

I figured this would do the job but when I tested it with a multimeter it was sending out 16.42 volts. Would this be ok in my nixie clock?

Non-regulated power supplies like those you see that come with routers tend to provide a higher voltage until you load it up with something. I have an old Netgear 12v@1A which I currently use on my CMoy and that puts out around 18v at little or no load.

I'm assuming that a Nixie clock has a more substantial power draw than a Cmoy so you should be ok.
