**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Only thing I'm disappointed about and looks like I'm in the minority! Really couldn't care less for some tacky plastic mobile phone holder which I'll wear for five minutes then get bored of. Would have much rather had a decent BoS or Enclave statue which could have sat on my shelf with all the other collectors edition statues from franchises which I've played and adored.

Still got my BoS figure sat on my desk, the wife hates it and says it looks creepy.

Looks like RPG of the years isn't as closed as we all thought when witcher 3 came out, looks amazing and im pretty hyped tbh.

Played FO3 on Xbox cause I didn't have a good PC at the time and I bought it to replay with some mod action but it doesn't like windows 8.1 very much. I'll work out how to fix it after I finish witcher 3 if I get that done before November.

Have Bethesda just gone head to head with the next COD and Battlefront 3 on release dates BTW? November could be a wallet breaker this year.

Could never get info FO3 myself and didnt try NV but i guess the steam sale is worth pickin these up if they appear?

I do find myself hyped for this even not having played the previous beyond the first real town outside the vault

I've sunk hundreds of hours into FO3 and NV and I love them both, but I would say if you didn't get into either of them then you won't find much joy in this. At this stage FO4 just looks like a slightly more interactive, sexier version. Camera, combat, VATS, companions, dialog and setting all the same kinda thing... Which I'm more than happy about.

its a fair point. I have a feeling i was sucked into WOW at the time FO3 came out and when it didnt initially hook me like Oblivion did i think it was just left to one side and forgot.

Ill look to pick it and NV up in the sale and give em a go :)

I wonder when developers will stop creating neat little games like Fallout Shelter exclusively for that cack platform from Apple...

Do I want/need a Pipboy? I'm thinking not, it's going to be a totally awesome novelty that'll probably just get sold once I've seen what all the fuss is about.

If there was a season pass, or some other add on in the bundle I might have been swayed but I can't see that working out for me sadly. Standard edition it is for now on Steam, then a refund if a season pass option comes up.

Oh man the hype is building, I can't wait for November :D The weapon customisation is a great touch, I'm not sure how building your own settlement will fit into the game as I never really remember the need for a house in F3.

I acquired a house in Megaton and was pleased to do so. I don't remember it having any significant in-game use, but it felt right from a roleplaying perspective to have a home even if I hardly ever went there. Besides, it was somewhere for Dogmeat to live (I never took him with me because I wanted absolutely single player).

Settlement building fits into the overall gameworld very well, but I'm also not sure how the RTS elements will mesh with the FPS game. It's not just home making and decoration because it's not just you. You've got town planning, infrastructure requirements (water, food, power) a population to take into account and defences that need to be built against the inevitable attacks from outside.

Or you could just build a shack for yourself and shoot anyone who turns up :) GET OFF MY LAND!

If simple fans of the games managed to make base management in the previous Beth games, I'm sure Beth know how to incorporate it into their own engine.

FO3 didn't initially hook me. In fact, I thought it was pretty meh. Then I realised that the entire initial section was just a tutorial and the game doesn't really start until you leave the vault. The vault section put me off the game a bit, to begin with.

You might want to look at unofficial bugfixes like Yukichigai's Unofficial Patch. As far as I know, some bugs were never officially patched. Although I played just fine with FO3 as released and NV with just a patch to prevent companions having their equipment lost in casinos.

Well now I was mostly impressed by that! Not 100% on the new way dialogue works though.

I'm also confused by the fact that he was out cold for 200 years and is suddenly in a vault jumpsuit... :p
