**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

how is setownership used? Do you have the frame transfer interface open, have it under the reticle (so "E" would have you jump in it) do you need to be sat in it? I've had no issue with other bits of console but I can't seem to quite work out when I should be using this.

Is it just "setownership" or "player.setownership" ?

Can the provisioners be stuffed into power armour? I got a trade route to hangman alley that ALWAYS gets it butt kicked by mutants on the western edge of town. Might give that provisioner a gauss and power armour and see how long it takes him/her to drop them :D

Hmm, I've built a badass defense tower at the bridge in sanctuary and haven't had a single raid ever.

I have ~180 defence at Sanctuary plus the passive defence of walls around almost all of it.

I haven't seen a raid, but I have heard some of my settlers talking about having fought off attacks (sometimes from raiders and sometimes from super mutants). Although in reality it would have been the turrets that did almost all of the fighting, since my settlers are armed with pipe pistols. I've left 3 suits of power armour with fusion cores in them in the pub in Sanctuary for emergency defence purely as roleplay. The two possible entrances each have 4 heavy machinegun turrets on them and another 6 or so with line of site to the entrances themselves. All of my inhabited settlements have overkill automated defences. I haven't lost a single settler to raids and if I do fast travel to help defend a settlement under attack I hardly ever get a shot off. I have once seen 1 raider manage to get into a settlement (and immediately get shot by at least 3 of the internal machinegun turrets).

I'm playing as an effective ruler. My people are safe.

For that same matter, my water purifiers work but don't give me anything: in the workbench thingy no excessive water comes in?!

I'm finding that purified water is not available at settlements other than the one in which it's generated. I have maxxed local leader perk and I've established provisioning routes, but neither purified water nor caps from shops are transferred.

I don't see anything that can be done about it - you can't assign a settler to a water purifier. They're automated. I don't seem to be getting much either. Only Starlight produces any excess and that has 80 purified water production and a population of 13.

Roll back I'm afraid, there are known issues with the Crimson drivers and the 290 series of cards :o

There's also a mod (on Nexus) that apparently fixes the problem by using a few of the dlls from the last catalyst drivers. I haven't tested it since I'm still using those catalyst drivers.

I used Red Rocket as my maain hub, im constantly tweaking my settlements and once you figure how to build without the walls snapping etc you can get some pretty decent camps going that are not just right angles

How do you do that?

Only thing which makes it a real pain for me are trying to build on un even surfaces, but im getting there :)

A possible workaround is to use shack foundation blocks to create an even surface. They clip through the ground (and almost anything else other than things you've built). You can also use the wooden shack foundations if you're short on concrete, but the concrete ones are much neater.

One thing that annoys me is how much stuff is impossible to remove or even move and how little sense it makes for it to be there at all. For example, my shopping centre in Starlight has a skeleton poking through the floor that's constantly rattling as people move over it. It can't be moved or removed (none of the skeletons there can be) and it's made even more annoying by the fact that I placed a couple of dozen huge concrete blocks into the ground to make the foundation for the shopping centre. Why on earth is the skeleton poking through one? It makes no sense for that to happen (and it makes no sense that the skeleton can't be moved).

Stick heavy laser turrets into the mix. I've started using those on a tower near the main entrance (with a good view over the settlement). I usually slightly obscure the entrance somehow (so there's a "squeezepoint" needed to pass to get in). In those areas there's usually a couple of shotgun turrets to drop anything that does get in.

One thing to mention: launcher turrets in action are a sight to behold. Set one up, spotted a raider camp down the road and sniped them so they all came running... that thing lays down some serious ass kickings :o

I will at some point find somewhere suitable (maybe the base near the iron foundry place) and build a decently sized array of them (like 3x3) with a chair and something like popcorn on the table next to it in a prominent viewing position :D

Water now works for me in sanctuary. The 13 bottles in the bench that sat there forever I took out and now I get loads. I also made a way bigger purifier setup at spectacle island and get nearly 1200 bottles after fast traveling back and forth once or twice. Made 35.000 caps lol. The island is uninhabited because I just don't care, purifiers and defenses is all.

As for skeletons, I read there's a mod for it, check nexus.

I did this ontop of The Slog. Concrete foundation ontop of their house with 4x missile turrents. I got a notification to help defend the slog and the quick travel point was right in the centre of 4 super mutants. Next thing I know a barrage of missiles are coming my way :D.

Needless to say, there are 3 named gouls now lifeless with no limbs.

I am about to join the fallout4 world, but I looked at the graphics on youtube and found it very ugly tbh (especially after playing witcher3...)

So whats the best graphics MOD out there? Cheers guys

I'm looking at FO4 now I've finished Witcher 3 but the base building bit seems like a lot of hassle to me. Is it really necessary?

Bit confused with the Semper Invicta mission; I accepted quests from both scribes, one after the other but there is no mention of objectives on my PipBoy. Did I miss something?

I seem to recall the male scribe asking me to clear out College Square, which I must have done about 3 times during the game but upon going back there, there were still ghouls which I took care of

Is this a bug possibly?

Could you progress with the semper Invictia assignment after doing the two scribes initial request. After that they will simply give you radiant quests. Additionally plenty of locations do re spawn enemies, with collage square being one of them.

I thought companions weren't supposed to use the fatman?

If they happen to pick one up (and Cait particular liked picking up weapons from dead bodies, she snatched up a Legendary Weapons once before I got to it. ) then yeah, they might end up using it. So got to check their inventory from time to time, for either a fatman or missle launcher so one not end up with a big suprise in tight places. :p

She used it pretty effectively actually. I was expecting her to use it inside, but when we got outside she fired it into a pack of super mutants and took them all out .

I still confiscated it though, just in case :D.

Why, in God's name, can you not snap Junk Fences?

Given up gating or walling settlements after spending 20 mins dicking around with trying to align it without massive gaps.
