**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Unfortunately I've discovered that I seem to have a bug where this is not the case. None of my crafting stations share the junk inventory in my workshop at the Red Rocket station outside Sanctuary. It's a good thing I only mod every so often (when I get a new point in Gun Nut/Science! mostly) and not interested in the settlement building as this would be a complete pain otherwise!!

If you're referring to crafting stations in the same settlement, that is a bug. One which I haven't seen mentioned before.

If you're referring to crafting stations in other settlements, junk inventory is only shared between settlements linked by a provisioner. Junk in one settlement won't appear in the inventory in another settlement, but it will be available if those settlements are part of your provisioner route network. So if, for example, you had junk containing 2 adhesive in Red Rocket and junk containing 50 adhesive in other settlements, looking in Red Rocket would show 2 adhesive but you would be able to use 52 adhesive for crafting in Red Rocket (or any other linked settlement).

Slightly different point for discussion...

Wondering if I have perma-borked Diamond City? More than a week ago I resolved one of the side quests involving an unfaithful wife and a drug cartel by executing all the protagonists. I'm walking by the pub in DC yesterday evening to be approached by a character called Collette who turned out to be the daughter of one of the people involved. On telling her the truth... she immediately turned hostile leaving no choice but to put her down. Despite the fact she attacked me this turned the whole of DC red including the vendors and Nick Valentine who has detached himself as a companion and was also trying to kill me.

In addition to half the named characters at DC now being no more, on returning to Red Rocket Piper is also trying to kill me. Luckily I'm approaching end game stage but still have things left to do in DC not to mention the items stashed in my house. Does the hostility reset or am I stuck with the loss of two companions and a major settlement.

Why can't you just roll back the save?

where did you get this quest from?

I know theres a drug lab quest as well as I found the lab by mistake and I had to kill them all, but I have never found the person that initiates the quest!!

Why can't you just roll back the save?

I guess that is an option, but given telling Colette you put her father down like a worthless dog is a scripted choice, there should be a mechanism in place that prevents the whole town being hostile when she attacks.

where did you get this quest from?

It starts in the bar at the upper level of DC. I did observe on Reddit a discussion indicating this is one of the most complex quest lines in the game with several different outcomes according to who you kill (or not) and consequences which can pop up long after you think you've finished it.

Am I right in think that having manned stalls in your settlements generates income? How does this work exactly

Found this at another forum, originally from Reddit. Thought I post it here if someone not seen it.

Is the struggle of this world merely a pleasant game for you? Do you long for a more brutal take on a life lived post apocalypse?
If you answered "Yes and yes!", then Survival difficulty is for you!
Survival upends many of the rules of life in the Commonwealth for maximum challenge. For a full list of these changes, see below.

To enable Survival, press [Pause], select "Settings," then "Gameplay" and choose "Survival" from the "Difficulty" options.

Saving
Manual and quicksaving are disabled. To save your game, you'll need to find a bed and sleep for at least an hour.

Combat
Combat is more lethal for everyone. You now deal, but also take, more damage. You can increase the damage you deal even further with "Adrenaline" (see below).

Fast Travel
Fast Travel is disabled. If you wish to be somewhere, you'll have to physically travel there.

Weighted Ammo
Bullets and shells now all have a small amount of weight, which varies by caliber. Heavier items such as fusion cores, rockets, and mini-nukes can really drag you down.

Compass
Be sure to keep your eyes peeled, as enemies will no longer appear on your compass. As well, the distance at which locations of interest will appear has been significantly shortened.

Adrenaline
Survival automatically grants the Adrenaline perk, which provides a bonus to your damage output. Unlike other perks, the only way to increase your rank of the Adrenaline perk is by getting kills (hostile or otherwise). The higher your Adrenaline rank, the higher the damage bonus. Sleeping for more than an hour, however, will cause your Adrenaline rank to lower. You can check your current Adrenaline rank at any time in the Perks section on the Stat tab in your Pip-Boy.

Wellness
You'll find it difficult to survive without taking proper care of yourself. You must stay hydrated, fed, and rested to remain combat-ready. Going for extended periods of time without food, water, or sleep will begin to adversely affect your health, hurting your SPECIAL stats, adding to your Fatigue (see "Fatigue" below), lowering your immunity (see "Sickness" below), and eventually even dealing physical damage to you.

Fatigue
Fatigue works like radiation but affects your Action Points (AP) rather than your Hit Points (HP). The more Fatigue you've built up, the less AP you'll have for other actions. The amount of Fatigue you've accumulated is displayed in red on your AP bar.

Sickness
A comprised immune system and a few questionable decisions can end up getting you killed. Eating uncooked meat, drinking unpurified water, taking damage from disease-ridden sources, such as ghouls and bugs, or using harmful Chems all put your body at increased risk for various ill effects. When you are afflicted with an illness, a message will appear onscreen. You can view specifics about your current illnesses by navigating to the Status section on your Pip-Boy's Data tab and pressing [RShoulder] to view your active effects.

Antibiotics
Antibiotics, which can be crafted at Chem Stations or purchased from doctors, heal the various effects of sickness.

Bed Types
The type of bed you're sleeping in determines the length of time you are able to stay asleep. A sleeping bag will save your game and may help save your life when you're desperate, but it will never allow for a full night's rest and the benefits that come with it.

Crippled Limbs
Crippled limbs will no longer auto-heal after combat and will remain crippled until healed by a Stimpak.

Carry Weight
Exceeding your carry weight reduces your Endurance and Agility stats and periodically damages your legs and health. Think of your back!

Companions
Companions will no longer automatically get back up if downed during combat and will return home if abandoned without being healed.

Enemy and Loot Repopulation
Locations you've cleared will now repopulate enemies and loot at a significantly slower rate.

Yes, it does.

Money is placed into your workshop in the settlement that has a manned shop. It isn't available at any other settlement, even if they are linked by provisioning routes. If you want to collect the money you will have to go to each settlement that has manned shops and get the money from each one seperately.

It will appear in the workshop inventory under the name "Bottlecaps". I think it's in the Junk section, but I'm not sure about that. I rarely collect it.

I have to say playing this on my pc is a big step up from the ps4..much more than I thought it would be..draw distances are much better, the landscape seems more dense with objects, weather effects seem better, saw mist rising from the river at sanctuary and fogging in font of spotlights which I am sure I never had on my playstation. it makes it that little bit more atmospheric.

add that the fact that I can now build what I really want and it has made me a happy chap..I just need to resist the urge to use the console to get building materials...I am now playing the game as a scavenging simulator..its all I do!

hmm i was checking a settlement to make sure everybody had a job to do when i find this one guy who keeps avoiding me and when i finally get a chance to talk to him, he gives me the railroad code and i give him the counter-sign and from there he has a mission for me. Anybody else have this happen?

there was a guy hanging round mercer safehouse in one of my earlier games who gave me what I assume were railroad radiant quests

With the upcoming changes surrounding the survival mode I might start a new save file and see how long I can last. It sounds a lot like the hardcore mode from new vegas which was a refreshing change of pace when playing. No more hoarding ammunition to start a whole new war!

Can you "Clear" every location in the map?

I mean i'm only level 7 and have noticed I have [Cleared] a few of them, but dont seem to be able to clear, for example, Red Rocket?

If you were extremely fast (or had a mod that disable repopulating) you could probably do it, but some will never show as cleared for other reasons. Red Rocket for example will never flag as cleared since it's a settlement location.

Same here. I'm glad that I resisted using the console (or mods) to get building materials. I think it would have reduced my enjoyment. It's better to get materials by scavenging and trading. Using the console as magic to create as much as I want or modding shipment sizes to 1000 or whatever would seem like cheating and thus reduce my enjoyment. I could have justified it for wood since it could be explained in a way internally consistent with the game as having settlers cut down some trees, but it would still have seemed a bit like cheating. Now I'm happier to find an old mop (2 units of wood!) than I am to find a legendary weapon and a bag of cement, well, that's prime treasure.

I have ~18,000 units of steel. It fits inside a workbench that only has at most a couple of cubic metres of storage space. Therefore the workbench is a Tardis. QED.

The new survival mode changes will make repopulation of locations slower. I would like it if you could create settlements out of cleared locations or friendly checkpoints. Going back a few days later to the same bunch of raiders or super mutants doesn't intrigue me much anymore.

will make it much harder scavenging though

dunwich borers, for example, is a great source of armour and weapons for scrapping as well as bone for making cutting fluid

Stupid moment of the month... I've been doing loads of the weathervane quests (just planted the fifth one) thinking they were main quests ha. I thought that they were a main/side quest for the railroad ha. I want my ballistic weave damnit! :D

Ballistic weave is not obtained by doing main quests for the railroad (or any other faction). Ballistic weave is obtained by doing side/radiant quests for PAM in the railroad HQ. She'll send you out to acquire pre-war caches - one of those contains the plans for ballistic weave. After you turn in the cache quest (I think it's the first one and I think you can do this immediately after turning the cache quest in), speak to Tinker Tom and he'll talk about the cache and say that the best part of it is ballistic weave. That unlocks ballistic weave for you.
