So you can still save anywhere is Survival mode? I seem to be able to

Currently, yes, but when the DLC hits and the majorly reworked Survival mode hits, you will have to rely on auto saves entirely. Personally I just foresee people entering and leaving random buildings just to save...

1.4 has the usual Bethesda (player QA testing feature  ) still rains indoors even underground. Bethesda profit margin on Fallout 4 must be massive same old game engine same old crappy basic missions but 7 years dev cycle not sure how it took 7 years to make this shovelware game

Never rained inside for me. What graphics setting you using, as I think they are perfectly adequate graphics. Meatloaf isn't going to win any beauty awards, but he sings from the soul and deserved every number one hit he got. Not everyone likes his music though. Call of Duty = Boy band.

Agreed. I've never seen it rain inside or underground, but I do get wet floors on the inside of outdoor buildings (Red Rocket etc) where it's not a separate cell. I hope that makes sense. I can excuse it because IMO it just's leaks frm cracks in old run down buildings. What does irritate me a little is when you're inside the same kind of roofed buidling, and it starts raining outside, but characters still end up with wet clothes...

hmmm never noticed that one. I really look straight past oddities like that, obviously don't even notice them. I have had some problems with bugged missions though, escorting the brotherhoods scribes in particular.

Some mods might fix your issues, I've got a few on the go now and they will only get better.

7 years... yeah, the bug you found is ridiculous, makes you wonder what the hell the testers were doing, or whether or not the developers took any notice of them!

I think Bethesda have sadly grown too used to taking the approach that if anything is wrong with one of their games, the modding community will fix it.

Not one of my mods have *fixed* anything, they have enhanced the game and no doubt the community will keep this game relevant for years and years to come, I see it as a positive for sure.

This article is great:

Basically just playing the game with a melee character. I watched a video on Youtube the other day of something similar and it really does look excellent. I think playing the game with a really focused build is probably more interesting that a jack of all trades sort of character that I've ended up with (I've never played Fallout before so this is my first time).

That melee build sounds fun and just a bit different but even with maxed out Blitz I would question how practical it is for every situation. When you get the distorted "tick tock" of a mutant suicider in the speakers, I want to bring Overserr's Guardian to bear for a quick put down or as a last resort (if VATS low) detonate his right arm. I wouldn't want to tackle the Forged either without a ranged weapon to whittle them down first. And how did he take down the Deathclaw in the opening mission as even with high Strength your attributes are pretty much zero at that point?

Currently on my third playthrough - which is a high INT/CH rifle build with the intention of getting the elusive all factions (apart from the Institute) friendly ending. I might consider doing melee for my fourth playthrough in a few weeks time - which will be my Institute "cheerleader" run.

Guys, please post screenies of outfit you've kitted your characters out with :D

Need some ideas, I'm bored with the way my character looks. Vault 114 overalls, with a mixture of heavy synth (chrome mod) and combat armour:

Previous look which was a mix between heavy combat armour and the silver shroud coat:

My current look. I think it fits ion well with the apocalyptic world.

Theres an NCR Ranger armour mod on Nexus, but I wasnt keen on it. Didn't seem to look as good as it did in NEW Vegas.

Well you do have the power armour, which helps a tiny bit I suppose. In the video I've seen the guy basically makes sure he's hidden, then uses VATS and blitz to go and get 4 or 5 good hits on the deathclaw, and then just runs off and hides until he's hidden again and then repeats. On his second run (dies just before he kills it on the first), the manages to kill it with a pool cue as apaprently they have about 3m of range! That combined with sneak sorts them out.

I guess, therefore, that you just have to put loads of effort into having the best armour you can get!

I think perhaps they're doing it without guns, instead of melee only, so it's possible to use grenades and other explosives, so you can probably take those guys out from a distance.

I have found performance has tanked since the 1.4 patch and the latest Nvidia drivers.

Or at least it seems that way. It feels like I'm getting lower fps now than what I was before. Quite noticeable.

Mine seems a lot better now actually, less issues with walking out into the world and getting a steep drop in FPS for the first few seconds. Seems good to me. I am, however, sick of waiting for loading screens to complete.
