**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

So my version of FO4 is 1.7.9, and I didnt have a script extender installed. I guess now I have the pleasure of sifting through the archived script extenders to find one that works with my version.

That would because this patch has outdated skse so we need to wait for it to update before script using mods like lowered weapons work again.

I was using this lowered weapons mod:

http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/20093/?

for months before I installed a script extender.

Most mods don't require a script extender. Out of the 88 mods I have installed, only 1 does (Place Everywhere). A mod that uses scripts doesn't necessarily need a script extender.

Are any of your mods labelled as requiring a script extender? Did you install the mods with Nexus Mod Manager? If so, it would have told you if the mod needed a script extender (or anything else, like another mod). Handy feature.

Apparently F4SE 0.201 was the version released for FO4 1.7.9

I have no idea if later versions of F4SE are backwardly compatible or not. Or whether you need F4SE at all. Mods not working might be a load order issue, for example. It's not all that unusual for some mods to have to be loaded in a specific order to avoid conflicts. You can click on the plugins tab in NMM (I see you are using it) and drag the plugins up and down to change load order. You could also try LOOT, which changes load order automatically. I haven't used it and have no idea how well it works - I've set my load order by reading mod decsriptions and manually changing load order if the mod author has said it's required in the desc. LOOT is under Skyrim SE mods on Nexus, but it works for a bunch of related games (Obvlion, Skyrim, Skyrim SE, FO3, FO:NV and FO4)

Iron Warrior, that's the version of Lowered Weapons I'm using, but not working.

Anglion, none of the mods are labelled as requiring the F4SE, or requiring another mod. I got a sorting UI mod to work (one recommended by DEF_UI), but DEF_UI still doesn't work, nor does Snappy Builds or More Where That Came From. Weirdly I also have missing labels on a lot of the construction items from the DLCs.

When installing the mods I did look for any info about load order, none were mentioned; I'm going to try LOOT in any case.

If you want to fix the missing labels use this mod I also get that error on every fallout 4 install for some reason English Strings

As for the problems your having I think the best thing you can do is uninstall all the mods and install one by one the ones your hav't problems with and see if they will work on there own if they do you know it a conflict with another mod maybe.

There is one somewhere that's lowered/holstered weapons or something to those lines thats really good, definitely requires an extender. This said you are spot on with how many mods use them but still trying to run a game without one when you need isn't going to play nice.

Does anyone know if there is an updated mod to re-enable mods after the latest update (after the hi-res pack)?

I've looked on the Nexus, doesn't seem to be much in the way of updates as yet.

Thanks!

Just started playing this game, nothing like I thought. Didnt realise there was so much to do.

Spent quite a few hours wondering around etc... so many things to learn..........

Will keep me going for a long time

I was playing this exclusively for nearly a year. My advice is don't rush through the main story go exploring and find side quests. Great game in my opinion.

Enjoy

I popped back into this and I'm struggling to find any new new quests after finishing the main story and a fair bit of exploring. I'm at 144 hours.

I don't want to do endless Radiant quests from BoS, Railroad or Minutemen and I'm not sure if any of the DLC apart from Far Harbour is worth it?

Spent about 1.5 hours just wondering around last night. All I did was plant some food for the settlers lol. So many places to go.

Quick update to my post, there is a fix on the Nexus, really easy to install. I think I knackered the install when I moved F4 install directory.

I've got exactly the same problem! Just restarted it again after a break of some months to find I had no active quests except for the repeatable ones! I had completed the main storyline so I'm not sure what to do now (if I don't do the DLC yet). I've discovered virtually all the locations, I guess I'll just have to go from place to place methodically, talking to people.

Bit disappointing. I'm sure there is loads to do still as I'm on level ~58 and there are lots of perks to unlock still.

I wonder if there is a mod which shows where there are quests that you haven't started yet...?

*edit* Ah hah! This looks like it just lists all sorts of things in the Pip Boy which haven't been completed yet, but putting the quest name into a wiki will show where to start it! I haven't tried it yet, but I'll be looking at it later. Hope that's useful to someone!

Actually I still have a couple of bobbleheads to find but I'm not really one for treasure hunts so I'll usually just look up the locations on a game wiki. Only noticed that when I looked at my display unit! :)

After finishing my earlier playthrough, started a new one with the intention of being a melee bad boy. Sadly there's no real checks on this like the karma system in FO3 or FNV. You can pee people off with irritated or offhand responses or upset your companions so they storm off and leave you, but there's no real consequences. In Vault 81, I took the molerat serum myself and let the sick kid peg it, but while the vault dwellers were less than happy and admonished me, I wasn't banished or had the population all turn red against me.

While in Vault 81 I also had quite a hilarious moment, as Preston Garvey suddenly appeared and ran past me. Very odd as my current companion is Piper and I deliberately left Garvey in the Museum Of independence after the opening mission, so I wouldn't have to put up with the radiant quests.

On the subject of bugs, in the last few days has anyone had the game "stall" on transition screens between different scenes? I seem to be getting this regularly and the only option is to keep Alt-Tabbing until it eventually pushes the game into displaying again. Not running any mods just vanilla with a couple of DLC's.
