**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Bethesda are being very careful not to spoil the story line. You won't ruin anything by watching any of the videos available so far, other than very minor hints about a couple of companions.

Get on board the hype train and get watching ;)

Or like when GTA V was released, the Steam servers took a hammering then :D Definitely get Virgin though, you wont ever look back.

Ud think companies would start asking Ppl to use bluray drives by now as cheap enough so they can put these ever growing huge games onto br discs to help those with crap net speeds/caps instead of relying on digital only. Which is fine if u have virgin like I do but I feel for those who have a few Meg connection or few gig caps.

I'm with Virgin and nobody else in my area offers their kind of speed at the same sort of price. I wouldn't consider swapping to BT as it's too expensive and there are capped download limits and Sky only offer ADSL in my area.

BT download limits aren't capped (unless you specifically go for a capped package of course). I have used over 1TB bandwidth some months and regularly use hundreds of GBs, not had one complaint. Their site does say somewhere it is truly unlimited these days.

Not saying BT are good, their customer service is terrible, just saying it is uncapped :)

Also, I've heard terrible things about Virgin's traffic shaping, something I never experience here. A guy at work has 120Mbps Virgin and rarely even got the same speeds as my 80Mbps BT line due to traffic shaping.

OP, 3Mbps should be ok? Just leave your machine downloading over night. Although if it is something like 50GB, that's going to be around 40 hours for you :/

I hate this. It's the same where I live. 2mb broadband and that's my only choice. Star Wars alpha was a laugh. By the time it downloaded I had about 2 hours play time before the alpha weekend trial finished.

Made the mistake of buying Gta v recently. Took me over 3 weeks to install it :(

BT is not capped, what makes you think that.

It all depends on whether or not there's a day 1 patch with fixes etc. If there isn't, the update should just be the core files needed to make a crack, like the .exe and so on.

Those without the right BBand - do you use desktop or laptop? Can you consider nipping to a coffee shop with free wifi for ~1h at some point?

I guess otherwise you're reliant on mates copying the steamapps folder onto a flash drive for you and posting it, which is hardly elegant :(

The special videos show you nothing extra that you wouldn't already know about the fallout universe. They are also quite humours and got be seriously looking forward to this game :D

Its all very well to suggest virgin (and maybe the OP can get this), but a lot of people can't. Back to the original point, this seems to be getting more common and does seem silly to me, I'm not bothered personally as I only buy digital, but for people with slow connections its very annoying. I realise you are always going to need to download some content as there will be updates between the time they press the discs and release, but surely they may as well stick the majority of the game on the disc.

As usual the character models don't look anything special - they really need to get someone good to develop their engine. It will look decent, but not as good as the competition and the system specs never match the visuals.

That said, gameplay/environment are more important to me and no one does it better than Bethesda.

Mhm... What colour haze hiding said landscape will the game have this time I wonder, we've had green and yellow, already... Purple?

SUCCESS!
getting virgin installed we only got the 100mb speed but significant improvement over the 3mb current. And its worked out slightly cheaper too.

Still think its wrong that some disk based games don't come with most of the files on however. Theres still many many people who are really stuck with low speed broadband. I can understand some files missing for piracy.

You only posted this thread yesterday, and today you're claiming to have a 100Mb Virgin line installed? Something doesn't smell right here.
