**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

I haven't followed thread, is there computer specs yet?

Just be aware that those specs above are usually higher than they really ought to be, they're playing it safe.

It'll run like *** because it's Bethesda, it'll be the same on consoles too. Oblivion runs like a dog on my system yet Witcher 3 is smooth as silk? Skyrim was okay but honestly without an SSD and it being installed on a seperate drive to what my OS is, that doesn't have great performance either.

Fallout 3 bluescreens every 10 minutes and New Vegas stutters like a 3 legged horse! This might be better though, the further away from Gamebryo they go with Creation, the better it will run.

Hmm is this a case of someone's PC being messed up and instead blames it on the games? They were all absolutely fine on my PC.

yes all of those games were fine for me also

Is there a point in playing 3 before 4 in terms of story continuity?

Had 3 for ages but just never got round to it and half tempted to smash it before the new game.

They are pretty stand alone games I have found. Though it may help you understand some lore of the game and whatnot, plus its an awesome game in general :D

there is no smashing this game it takes hours and hours to complete easy sink 100hrs into it. but if you have the time its well worth a playthrough that and newvegas are my all time favorite gamesI

If you love the post-apocalyptica then yes, totally worth soaking up the first 2 games and DLCs but you'll never be able to appreciate them fully before FO4 is released IMO.

I dunno, you could probably hammer the story missions in a couple of days...

...utterly missing the point of the game which is a vast world to explore, full of lore and hidden quests :p

I start playing through 3 again just after 4 was announced, have about 40-50 hours racked up and only about 3-4 missions into the main quest!

Was playing through last night and noticed how much of a contradiction the game is in some ways - on the surface it's (relatively, given the subject matter) light-hearted and quirky, what with the happy-go-lucky vault boy mascot and all of the in-jokes and amusing characters, whilst at the same time, some parts of it are really dark. I was in a building exploring and happened upon a children's playroom, full of toys etc... complete with several child-sized skeletons in various contorted poses... :(

You realise it's a live action trailer, right? Good luck modding that.

You can't deny Skyrim ended up looking pretty staggering with all the mods etc.

I'd love to see a Fallout game that looked like that... possibly more than any other series, actually.

I dont think you could you always get side tracked its what makes the game so amazing I've played it through about 3 times and always end up doing all the side bit just differently so much replay value.

Oh its a dark game at times but I suppose if it was too bleak it would drab on you depress some players so probably got just the right balance.

I put...

1000+ hours into Fallout 3
1100+ hours into Fallout: New Vegas
1350+ hours into Skyrim

Obviously, all were heavily modded and the only trouble I had with any of them was GFWL (FO3) and the AWOP mod for NV, both of which caused crashes. I don't think I had a single crash in Skyrim and I modded the living daylights out of it.

So by the time I'm done with all of the DLC and a few modded play throughs , I should be surfacing sometime next summer :D

In the Fallout Shelter Update 1.2 Trailer, Bethesday actually showed of some lil' snippet of game-play which I don't think I've seen before:

...and I'm still not completely sold on the new dialogue system/voiced protagonist in general :p ("Hate Newspaper!") All the character models look like they're made of slowly melting wax :D I've come to expect this from Bethesda games though...

Fallout 4 disc won't contain all install files.

I have a painfully slow 3mb download speed and just read the news fallout 4 will have to be downloaded even with the disc version, as it only contain some of the install files. Which I can understand for varies reasons.
Is there any info on how much will be on disc and how much will need to be downloaded?.

Hopefully most will be on disc or at least half then it won't be so bad otherwise I'm looking at a few days to download. Fibre is not available in my street unless you want virgin.

I'm with Virgin and nobody else in my area offers their kind of speed at the same sort of price. I wouldn't consider swapping to BT as it's too expensive and there are capped download limits and Sky only offer ADSL in my area.
