**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Well I would get virgin media, my girlfriend doesn't want it. But it looks like it might be the way forward and there's a virgin media shop in town so I'm going to try pop in with her because if it's cheaper than our current sky package she might go for it.

Otherwise I'm going to be waiting a long time for downloads.

I just got Virgin recently, due to terrible download speeds of around 250 kB/s!

Went for the 12 month uswitch deal, then pre paid the line rental which saves around 40 quid over the year:)

Sky TV, virgin internet ;)

My road is privately owned so there is no chance that Virgin will even look at cabling here, I get a decent 80MB/s from BT but 200MB/s from Virgin would be nice,

As for fallout, it won't take too long to download, plus I have it digitally pre ordered so I will have all the files before launch anyway.

Not sure why the OP couldn't have gone in the main Fallout 4 thread...

the disc probably only has steam install software on it

It has been confirmed that the DVD will have some, but not all of the install files. I expect that it will have most of the files other than what gets patched last minute and some key files to prevent piracy pre launch.

That said the PC version comes on a DVD where the XBone/PS4 versions are on Blu-Ray, so you might need to download a fair bit regardless.

Am I he only one who doesn't watch trailers once I'm set on buying a game?
None of those SPECIAL videos or the new trailer... I just don't want anything spoiled, at all!
They're to convince you to buy right? Well I'm already sold, no need to watch!

I was worried this would happen. I too have a terrible Internet connection and usually have to rely on the physical versions. I think this game is around a 30GB download which is going to be absolute hell on 2Mb/s

I'll have to wait and see if the disc(s) actually contains any significant amount of game data otherwise I might as well just buy a key from somewhere and just wait a week or so.

Yes same hear. Had a look at some of the first vids to get an idea what it was going to be like but that's it for now.

In the Fallout Shelter Update 1.2 Trailer, Bethesday actually showed of some lil' snippet of game-play which I don't think I've seen before:

...and I'm still not completely sold on the new dialogue system/voiced protagonist in general :p ("Hate Newspaper!") All the character models look like they're made of slowly melting wax :D I've come to expect this from Bethesda games though...

As usual the character models don't look anything special - they really need to get someone good to develop their engine. It will look decent, but not as good as the competition and the system specs never match the visuals.

That said, gameplay/environment are more important to me and no one does it better than Bethesda.

You could have the fastest internet connection/ISP ever but you'll still be throttled by Steam or whatever you're downloading from. Higher speeds isn't always the way to go.

The SPECIAL videos are fine, in fact it doesn't spoil anything. Its just a bit of fun and adds a bit of the lore/vibe to the game.
