**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Good news that GMG pre-orders get to pre-load so early. Given the state of VM in the evenings at the moment I was expecting a very frustrating Tuesday evening. :)

Now where's my key!!

I'm not whinging, I'm very much in the "wait and see" crowd.

This thread is very reminiscent of the Witcher 3 thread before release.

I never said the you did. Was joining in with what you was saying, adding let's whinge to it. Lol

I hope we get our keys from cdkeys over the weekend so we can pre load. That said as long as I get it the day before I am happy. 40 gigs only takes a couple of hours download for me, no big deal.

Many other customers have received two emails about charges for the game, one charging £99.99, the other £83.32. It's currently unclear if those customers have been charged an additional £83.32 for their order.

I'm in this category, email doesn't make sense... GAME haven't been the greatest in their Pre-order communications, I've recieved several emails followed by another email saying sorry "it was sent by mistake".

As long as I only pay £99.99 and get it Monday/Tuesday I'll be happy, don't mess this up GAME. :(

This happened to me also. It was the one email but with those two prices.

I'm planning to build my own misanthropic hermit town, with the buildings laid out solely for the purposes of spelling out an emphatic suggestion to "go away" and the same message on the gates. Spelled out with guns, if possible.

One of the things that the Fallout series shows, especially with New Vegas, is the regrowth of countries and the consequent reduction in independence. Which is why they're running out of time in the gameworld timeline - the games simply don't work inside a country. It won't be long in the gameworld timeline (at least in the former USA part of it) before any conflict is at the army level between countries and any further games would be more like Call of Duty than Fallout.

So I'm going to be a holdout, living my own life in the remaining unclaimed land and probably killed by soldiers from an expanding country in years to come. Bleak.

I'm wondering if they'll ever show some other part of the Fallout world. Fallout: New London, maybe. One faction could be, for example, people who model their society on Arthurian legends. There's scope for stories. The scale might be too small, though. The UK would be seriously messed up by a nuclear war - would there be even a habitable wasteland afterwoods? Maybe Australia - plenty of space there and scope for lots of monsters created by mutation and the FEV from existing Australian animals.

Haha, best post in this thread!

I concur with several of theposts above- for me the excitement of this game is a sprawling GTA5-style, emergent, sandbox environment, except this time we can leave our mark on it, build stuff, and then let the world react. It's basically the post apocalyptic, survival/foraging experience all the recent zombie games loosely promised but failed to provide. Can't wait.

I see the Witcher 3 mentioned a lot here, but I'm not sure the two are really comparable, except they are games and have graphics. W3 is a picture-postcard "choose your own adventure" book. You run around a beautiful world approaching things and pressing "A". Apart from swinging swords at enemies, there is absolutely no real interaction with anything whatsoever. And I say that with the greatest of love- so far it's my game of the year and suspends disbelief and makes you feel involved in the world in a way few games have since Baldur's Gate 2. It's an amazing achievement for a small studio, but on the other hand look at the content and you can see how they achieved it.

Fallout 4 is a different thing, and will be a world of things that you can discover, blow up, knock over, be surprised at, re-load and interact with again in a different way. All held together with a good story.

I hope :)
