**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Is it just me or does it look like the faces are the only things that have changed since fallout 3, normally I'm a massive fallout / elder scrolls fanboy but i'm really not hyped by this at all. just looks like fallout 3 to me with a different story which from that trailer is completely cringe worthy anyway.

It appears that you're another person whose eyes don't rely information to their brains properly.

Yeah, the faces are the only things that have changed.

Ok so maybe i was going off what i saw in the trailer and kind of thinking of modded fallout not vanilla fallout so lets compare it to skyrim instead.

It doesn't look like much has changed only the faces. :D

But yeah, it does look a lot better than fallout 3 i see that now however considering the time span between the two i don't think its enough.

Obviously I'll still be buying the game and playing it so hopefully I'm wrong about not being hyped but for me at the moment its very underwhelming.

Apart from maxing int to get max skill pints, I played the game normally. I assume I made the wrong choice in lying to the guy hunting the replicated man. Special had nothing to do with it

If I recall correctly there's several outcomes to that quest, the quickest being by telling Zimmer that the android is dead. I think there's a level check for either speech or intelligence, which you can level sufficiently early on in the game to pass.

Talk about knee jerk reaction. It is fallout, what more do you need to know? Fallout 3 and NV didn't look any better at this stage.

The Witcher 3 happened.
Would've liked Bethesda to go all out, since they have potentially greater resources than CDPR, but it feels like a low budget game. Something that could've been another Fallout 3 spin off like NV.

Nothing wrong with that of course, but the story seems quite lame, so what else am I supposed to get? I just don't see this game adding anything to the genre.

But is true, I'm not being objective, just disappointed.
We're just sharing impressions, until the game comes out we can all just share our thoughts, there's not much content to go on :D

I'd much rather them do it like this than pretend the graphics are going to be mind blowing to a level we've never seen before, then on release the game looking nothing like that and the developers playing dumb on the matter as if there literally is no difference.

What low budget games have you been playing that were like this?

The Witcher 3 happened for sure, I'd rather them do it like this than overhype the visuals to a level they just can't achieve. Additionally, Bethesda games, Fallout and the Elderscrolls series were never graphical showcases in any meaningful way.

At least we know that with all the mods that have come out for Skyrim, that the mind-blowing level of visual fidelity will be a possibility once the modding scene gets to have a good play with it.

By low budget I mean a game built on the foundations of Fallout 3.
It is the same engine after all.

A game that as far as I've seen could be called Fallout 3: Boston.
That's my opinion (Played everything Bethesda since Morrowind and loved Oblivion, didn't like anything since , just to say I just like RPGs, not much so Bethesda) :D

Its literally the same engine just added DX11/64bit support and some improvements on shaders etc.

Modders pretty much used the same code etc as Fallout/Oblivion, for Skyrim.

Well, that's how iterative engines usually work...

There's nothing low budget about that. Any developer that's extensively used a specific engine with have a lot of work they will reuse in later releases. It's how development works.

Well, it is Fallout Boston. Based on that logic Fallout 3 would be The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind; Oblivion; Fallout: East Coast, because that's pretty much it's been. They're all on the "same" game engine.

Not sure whether to get this on PC or PS4. I get screen tearing in most games and I can't stand it at all, and vsync just causes stuttering when it dips below 60fps. I have a Radeon 7950.

Are people still having a little whinge on the graphics still?

I'll just be glad if it runs smoothly and bug free, I really don't want a Batman situation going on.

As long as the story is there, humor, characters then I'm not bothered.

I still play KOTOR/Mass effect based on the fact that they're fantastic games, not fantastic looking games. (The screens do look amazing so I'm failing to see the trollism)

Can't wait to build my own little shanty town shack with neon lights n ****. :D with gun defences and traps for unsuspecting raiders.

I'm planning to build my own misanthropic hermit town, with the buildings laid out solely for the purposes of spelling out an emphatic suggestion to "go away" and the same message on the gates. Spelled out with guns, if possible.

One of the things that the Fallout series shows, especially with New Vegas, is the regrowth of countries and the consequent reduction in independence. Which is why they're running out of time in the gameworld timeline - the games simply don't work inside a country. It won't be long in the gameworld timeline (at least in the former USA part of it) before any conflict is at the army level between countries and any further games would be more like Call of Duty than Fallout.

So I'm going to be a holdout, living my own life in the remaining unclaimed land and probably killed by soldiers from an expanding country in years to come. Bleak.

I'm wondering if they'll ever show some other part of the Fallout world. Fallout: New London, maybe. One faction could be, for example, people who model their society on Arthurian legends. There's scope for stories. The scale might be too small, though. The UK would be seriously messed up by a nuclear war - would there be even a habitable wasteland afterwoods? Maybe Australia - plenty of space there and scope for lots of monsters created by mutation and the FEV from existing Australian animals.

What was the last bug free Bethesda game you played?:p

How is that a bad thing, fallout 3 was absolutely brilliant - I hope we have more of the same here. Unless you didn't like fallout 3 of course...

"Lets find my daddy..." isnt really a great story, and it wasnt well written. Shame Obsidian didnt work on 4.

And Amata that **** doesnt even come with you.

Ugh, I've just inadvertently read a major plot spoiler. Avoid the steam forums is my advice. Someone is posting innocently titled threads containing game info.
