**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Right who is unlocking at 1pm and what vpn will you be using. Not did this in ages and can't remember what vpn I used the last time.
Vpn gate via soft ether. Schooled myself on it last night before bed so you are welcome to the fruits of my labour!

Is it really worth having your steam account locked, just so you can play the game early.
The game unlocks at 1 minute past midnight tonight, not long to go now:)

Doubt valve would be stupid enough to lock an account over such a thing. Not like it is a big deal or anyone will go out of pocket as a result? The only outcome of taking such an action can be upsetting/losing a customer.

I have hundreds of games and been with them pretty much from the start, if they did that to me I think I would either move to gog or more likely never pay for a game again.

Are there any reports showing valve being stupid and taking action over activating a game a few hours earlier using vpn? I have never done it myself, but seen many people doing it with no consequences.

Sure I have used vpn gate before but what is this soft ether you speak off ?
The difference between soft ether and vpn gate with soft ether was the former was just a black app, and the latter was the same app populated with many preconfigured vpn connections.

It was late, there may be a better way :)

Just about every one and there dog unlocked blops 3 early last week and as far as I can tell know one got a spanking. I have done it about 10 times but not this year.

from section 3A of the steam service agreement

Directly from the Steam user agreement:

"You agree that you will not use IP proxying or other methods to disguise the place of your residence, whether to circumvent geographical restrictions on game content, to purchase at pricing not applicable to your geography, or for any other purpose. If you do this, we may terminate your access to your Account."

I know what the Steam user agreement says and just like grant666uk I have unlocked countless games early using a vpn for years. Done it on Origin too, no bans, no emails, nothing.

If you don't think it's worth the risk then you can wait until midnight, but I'll be unlocking via vpn at 1pm as I think there is no chance of being banned for it.

"...To purchase at pricing not applicable to your geography.." - Steam can ban your acc only if you were buying games cheaper in other "zones" (aka russian) thus making them lose money,if you just unlock game earlier for few hours, they not ban your acc, been with Steam since beginning and doing VPN on all major games - no problem at all

23.8 gig I downloaded got mine from CD Keys with season pass and 5% off code for 42 quid a while back.

My first download was 23gb and then an extrar 1gb was done sometime after. I would say on release a substantial amount will be further added. Hope this helps.

Thanks :). Just pre-loading now. was just wondering and making sure i can get it downloaded in time. happy its now my 4 days off to enjoy this game :D.

Actually if you read the full quote, it includes:

"...to circumvent geographical restrictions on game content [...] or for any other purpose..."

So using a VPN to unlock a game earlier would probably come under "circumventing geographical restrictions" and definitely under "any other purpose" and they could ban your account for it. Of course could doesn't necessarily mean would ;)

Well most people are buying keys from cheap zones as well, indirectly anyway. I agree that I can't see them banning for VPN, but they've certainly given themselves the option, personally I can wait.

I quoted for what Steam are actually banning - unlocking game earlier not gonna ban you.Russian keys are much cheaper and Steam can see from where they are,as long as key is from EU they not gonna even look at it
