**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

I'm not quite sure how it happened, though I think it may have been something I turned off by accident in the Nvidia control panel (Shader cache?), but my fps went through the roof. Trying to pick a lock was quite funny to watch.

Yeah I had that. No idea what was different. It only happened once and has never happened again

For whatever reason I cannot get into this. I am so disappointed as I have been looking forward to it for ages. I've played Dying Light to death and thought this would actually surpass it. I've probably not given it a fair shot but it just feels so much like NV to me. Maybe I'm missing something.

Have anyone here built a wall around Sanctuary ?? Only walls I can find is the normal house walls, is that what one suppose to use or what walls you using ??

I started doing it last night but with metal walls. I might go back and change it all to wooden fences. Don't want to use up all my metal (unless I cheat).

I haven't been to Castle yet so thought I'd make a start with Sanctuary. I've not really been doing quests just finding places on the map and picking up all manner of tat.

Scrolling through all my loot is a pain. Really could do with a better system.

Building was obviously tacked on as an afterthought with only a trivial amount of development resources assigned to it, but I found it became far easier when someone earlier in this thread mentioned shack foundations.
Building was advertised quite early on. No doubt to latch on to the minecraft mania of the time. It's just been poorly implemented.
I think they should allow 3rd person god mode style editing. But to make that viewpoint plausable then you have to build a free fly camera station first.

you need to check your miscellanious quest notes mate, theres a specific time you have to do one of the quests youre asking about, its in the info.

Ok I sorted the Travis one - it was in my quests after all. But the Salem old folks home one just started and finished randomly and without reward.

It's hard to find everything. Give me the links, and links to any quotes and I'll try to get it sorted.
It's cool, his weren't out and out spoilers tbh. Things like

"vertibirds crashing everywhere" kinda spoiled the fact that BoS were gonna get heavily involved, when it seemed like they were only a 3 man squad in cambridge station.
Others may not agree that's a spoiler

Am I the only one that doesn't really bother with the building mechanics? I just use it for quest completion.

Love the game but does lack some assistance in many areas.

It's optional and for what it's worth, you can do some really cool settlements with it.

Biggest issue is the lack of information/guide within the game to get you started, personally I like that, but clearly not everyone agrees - can't please everyone.

In regards to settlements, I am still perplexed as to how:

The various attacks on them work. I seem to get them every two hours or so. On a few occasions they have hit, in particular the southern settlements, they have been pretty brutal. First and only death to date was down there fast travelling without putting power armor on, into a group of 8 or so High Tier super mutants (level 65 at the time) while other sites get 1-2 raiders?

Would love to know what triggers battles as in 100 or so hours, not had an attack to date on sanctuary, while others seem to get hit a lot it sounds like.

I am utterly confused by the freedom trail..i offers no clues as to which direction to go..I followed the path in the park....and......

and some giant mutant in a pond killed me in double quick time!!

The route follows the red line on the ground as various points it gets obscured by rubble but if you carry on in the direction the line was heading when it dissapeared under the rubble you should pick it up again, at the point I think you are at the trail crosses the road from the park then goes back down the street before turning a corner.

Agreed entirely. The settlement crafting is good, but there is almost no guides or information available to say how to do stuff. Even just implementing more tools would have sufficed.

Anyone who is into the building managed to get the Benevolent Leader achievement yet? Looks like it must be an ultra grind as only 0.2% of players have it according to steam.

Institute spoilers

met some old cobbler who is supposedly my son? you're having a giraffe mate. I bet hes a synth himself. These guys seem right shady, experimenting on people, swapping synths with real people, hoarding technology, who in their right mind would side with these guys? Brotherhood for life.
