**** Official Fallout 76 Thread ****

Based on the beta I think I do actually want to play this... but I'm in no hurry. And by the time I do it will hopefully be in a better state. Good to see the above 'fixes' already & kkthebeast made me smile:)

I honestly don't get what people are finding so bad it's a reasonable game to me? The majority of theses are daft FO fanboys that are just upset because Beth have tried something different.

I've put five hours in and not seen many bugs if any

I can see why players are upset its full of severe bugs still animation cycles especially & respawn points. But I have over 40 hours now since I played all of the Beta sessions & yesterday. Its not bad for me overall.

Am treating it as Fallout 4 MP playable Solo content wise as that is all it is. Also for sure its the last new Fallout release from Bethesda for several years until Starfield is released then they move onto Fallout 5 before the next Elder Scrolls title.

That's not right, it's precisely because they didn't do anything different... They haven't done anything differently in a critically artistic way since Morrowind, just opening up their market more and more off of the back of poor mechanics.

If all they want to make is loot & shoot games, they should just admit it.

The state of the game was to be expected, so that doesn't bother me but I'd of been more impressed if they actually committed to that something different. That made PVP an option but then dumbed it down considerably, I'm watching a stream and it's essentially a pointless addition. Taking out NPC's but only allowing 24 players a world seems a bit of a missed opportunity as well as the world looks empty.

I'll wait until it's cheaper around Christmas.

EDIT: I can see it being fun for around 20-30 hours, but then once you're level 50, you're kinda left with nothing to do? Saw somebody that is level 42.

I love how everyone always tries to justify the reason people don't like a game is because they're 'fanboys'. The same exact excuse was used for Metal Gear Survive. One thing both games have in common is that if you strip away the IP, they're still just very bad games.

Maybe the reason a lot of people aren't interested is because the game looks awful? They have basically taken the worst part of Fallout games (the combat) and stripped out the best part (dialogue and story) and tacked on coop so you can chat about what you did down the pub while shooting janky, slow moving enemies for hours on end. The gfx look crap, the combat looks boring, the pvp looks awful, there is literally nothing about it that appeals to me at all and by the looks of it a lot of other people. If you want a coop shooter with PVP I'm sure there are much better options out there. Although like i said earlier, on console this is probably quite a new concept as I don't think they have rust, so no doubt it'll still sell well on console. Might be better looking in the console sub-forum as that thread might be more active.

Terrible PC controls (read: "obviously gamepad controls remapped with no consideration for MKB")
Poor provision of settings, e.g. Ultra wide resolutions, no adjustable FoV, over the top DoF
Awful performance given the quality of graphics
Empty world and severe lack of content relative to map size
Graphics from 10 years ago (other than a couple of janky lighting effects)
No original gameplay
No story to speak of
No real sense of what the game is actually trying to be, is it a survival game? Team PVP? Story driven coop RPG? It tries to be all of those and ends up failing miserably at all of them rather than doing 1 thing well

1 or 2 of those would could be overlooked, but for me at least there are no real redeeming features.

If it was a mod for Fallout 4, or an early access game from an indie dev selling for say £20 then I might think differently, but for a full release with an RRP of £45 from an established developer with decades of experience and huge resources behind them? It's laughable.

You forgot to mention Bethesda.net launcher, heard it is slightly.. flicky ?? Not used it myself though, so might be totally wrong. :p

Watching with interest, do you need a headset to play this game?? Lol

Since almost every player turns off voice chat as soon as they load the game and does their best to ignore every other player then no, you don't need a headset to play the game :)

Almost everyone who likes Fallout games likes them to be single player. Which is exactly what everyone+dog has been telling Bethesda since they announced a multiplayer only Fallout game. People who want a multiplayer game have many that are far better MP games than FO76 because they're only MP and they're using engines designed for MP. FO76 is using an engine designed for SP and is a mash of SP and MP that works less well as either.

An offline SP version of FO76 would sell far better, even completely unchanged from its current state (i.e. still mostly designed as a MP game). Modders would fix many of the bugs and bad game design (bad controls, lack of configuration, bad UI, pointless base building, tiny stash, etc).

I'll almost certainly still buy it because there is a decent Fallout game inside the mess of very different games, bad game design, bad porting and bugs. But not right now. I'd feel bad about giving Bethesda the impression that this is the right road to follow. I'll probably give in and buy it at some point, though.
