**** Official Fallout 76 Thread ****

Farm some plastic and bulk up your steel and then sell it to vendors, you don't need more than ~100 steel. If you do, it's super quick and easy to farm that it doesn't matter.

That's a good idea, I have over 1000 steel so will definitely be doing that later. Thanks for the tip.

How is everyone finding FO? Big fan of the previous titles I know this is completely different but I am looking forward to wondering alone, looting, base building and over watching nearby players.

Only a personal opinion, but I think it's utter ****. I got the game for free though, so can't complain too loudly I suppose...

Despite the tirade of abuse this game has got I am still somewhat drawn to it due to how much I love any kind of fallout world.

Its a shame Beth have played on that and apparently made minimal efforts in some ways with the game.

I'm hoping after it's reception things get better and well if it doesn't I'm only £30 down and I still have a somewhat interesting game to play with
Just read this and completely in the same boat. If you check out the community of FO76 players they are loving just exploring listening to holotapes and helping fellow wanderers like urban myths. I love the exploration side of fall out and I feel with this there's no rush to complete the main story.

The general consensus is that is is terrible, although there's bound to be some people who like it, and there's always fanboi's who'll defend anything they're emotionally invested in. I think it's a wait and see and get it for a tenner at best. Yet again, another win for not pre-ordering and not buying games until they mature.

I haven't found that at all. There are loads of involved locations at all levels and your scope is very big even at lower levels. The Mire, some of The Divide and Cranberry Bog are the high level zones and that's less than half of the map. I've found I have been able to kill mobs sometimes 10+ levels above mine so it's not been a problem.
Hmm ok do not want to spoil for you but there are several locations where you need to be lvl30-40 or will not last long! I took down a lvl62 scorched in one of these locations even though I am only lvl27!

Is it that bad?
Not really at all. I mean its Fallout 4 DLC in all but name so expensive DLC (£28.99 right now on cdkeys) but if you liked Fallout 4 then for sure you will get your moneys worth from 76 just do not expect it to be a smooth ride lots of bugs which are going to take ages to fix. Solo is not too bad at all I mean I also agree with all the negativity but can still find something to explore or a story to follow which leads to some extensive questing & exploring.

It's not as bad as everyone jumping on the bandwagon make out, as said above its basically fallout 4 'dlc', definitely not worth the asking price at the moment though.

Fallout dlc that has been released in an unfinished state with nothing but boring fetch quests and no engaging stories, only those told by holotapes that have already happened. Also no modding, so all these bugs can't be fixed by the community this time around. Apparently there are even bugs present that were in Fallout 4 that Bethesda never bothered to fix then and they were fixed by the modding community, but in 76 they will never be fixed.

Even in the face of so many people pointing out the problems, gamers still can't help themselves.
This is a full price title with nowhere near full price work.

Pfft, i like their games in the basic sense, but i never bothered with Fallout 4 because while it looked "nicer" than their previous game, the VO protagonist and poor quests made it a dead game to me. Same with Andromeda (just utter trash), the ending for ME3 not withstanding (that was atlleast a functioning installment in that series).

The massively over-exaggeration of hate and vitriol is the only thing developers understand, because anything less is ignored, and since it's a mainline series from a mainline developer (Andromeda being ostensibly handed to amateurs while their main studio creates a pointless Destiny clone) they'll have no choice but to actually solve these issues.

Saying that, i still feel as though there's a sentiment at Bethesda Gameworks that they don't give a ****. The reality is that amateur hour is over and there's been enough scandals lately that even some middling gamer is likely to be cautious.

Down to 26.99 on CD Keys. I'd say at 20 quid this game makes sense. I bought it for 30 quid and had around 6 hours out of it so far so I feel I've got my moneys worth it's not horrendous there are many many people jumping on the bandwagon but I do hope Beth are hard at work to turn things around.

I think that's a given though for any RPG I've played in the last 30 years. Content is gated by levels.

Is it that bad?

Not at all. It's just the internet to hate. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the people criticising it haven't even played it. Most of the Youtube videos are people just looking for hits. Their channels are generally full of the same negativity, also based on not playing the game. We also like to leave a thread on a negative as whether we have played it or not, if we are hating on it, the thread has to end on a negative. It's why you see the same repeat posts after someone posts a positive in any game thread.

The game has issues don't get me wrong. I can understand someone saying the way the story and quests unfold is not my thing, the multiplayer is off-putting or I've had performance issues. But none of these make it a bad game and the latter is generally improved as we go along (although I've had no performance issues, one crash so far and a couple of mobs stuck in walls). There are bugs but which game of this nature and scope doesn't have them?

I've found it very immersive, the world is interesting to explore and if you get a kick out of just being in a huge Fallout world with loads of interesting things to discover, this might be for you. Just don't expect amazing combat (although it is fun and a good laugh in a team) or to be the hero who makes everyone feel better about themselves. I've also played a fair bit of multi with my 2 sons and we have had a whale of a time. I'm not sure if this will change but it's quite easy killing 1 or 2 mobs much higher than you which makes exploring a lot of the map pretty easy.

Biggest gripes so far are silly things like not getting XP for a kill in a group if you don't damage the mob although this could be a bug. Stash space but there are ways around that. We went to a new town yesterday and a couple of quests were bugged but no biggie, we'll come back when it's fixed. So far they are the only issues I've had, maybe I've been lucky.

Waiting for it to go lower :D

This isn't an RPG that will last I don't think. People will play for a while, explore most of it and then get bored. That's the problem with RPGs focusing on exploration, unless it's effectively endless (like e.g. Elite Dangerous), once you've seen everything there is nothing else to do as the world doesn't change.

This sums up my experience so far quite nicely actually, very similar experience for me.
