*** Official FIFA 11 Thread ***

I must admit I've gone back and forth between the two a couple of times over the year. Seems lately there are a lot more manual players playing so I usually find a game in the online lobbies. I haven't played an assisted game for a few months now.

If assisted makes you a better player then why choose manual? It just seems as if only to say "Oh I choose manual settings" or is there something more to it?

Assisted controls do most of the work for you. As skippi says even mediocre players can be quite effective as virtually every pass goes straight to feet and virtually every shot is on target. It's not realistic at all and although it can be a lot of fun at first it soon gets boring to me.

With manual settings it soon becomes clear that a lot more skill is involved. It's like turning the game into a proper sim as opposed to a more arcadey game. You have to aim and weight every pass, cross, shot etc. At first it's a nightmare, but as you get used to it, it becomes a lot more rewarding. In the long run as you get better you can start playing passes and scoring goals that are impossible on assisted.

So unless you put a lot of hours into it then all it's effectively doing is making it more difficult for yourself? I don't see the point unless you plan on becoming competitive in proper competitions or playing for cash.

It doesn't take that long to get used to it, but yes it will take a while to master it. It's more about the realism than anything else though. Assisted is unrealistic and arcadey in my opinion.

I don't play manual against assisted players. I play against other manual players so it's a level playing field with both players in full control of what happens as opposed to the computer doing all the work.

Are you a big football fan K1LLSW1TCH? If so then I suggest you try it and you will see what I mean. You keep focusing on the difficulty of it as opposed to the realism which, to a football fan, is far more rewarding than the unrealistic ping pong passing game you get on the default control settings.

I've played with manual everything other than passing, manual passing just makes me want to shoot myself, intensely frustrating.

Made me laught out loud :)

... I cant be arsed with manual either, whats the point when 99% of players play assisted. I find it hard enough as is!!!

Although I think it would be fun to play against someone else who is also playing manually.

what the hell are the hidden online morale stuff people are talking about???

Fifa10 is riddled with annoying bugs tbh, but the amount im on it every week makes it worth the money for 11, if they'v only sorted a few niggles out I will be happy, I love my pro club championship games, hope they'v sorted out some of the terrible defender AI and retarded keepers, atleast theres inevitably going to be more customisable attributes for be a pros too.

When you start an online match, the players 'morale' is pre-determined by the game at random.

This means that one game, certain players will run faster, be stronger on the ball, hit better shots etc than they will in the next game.

It seems very random, one game your team will feel quite slow and sluggish, the next they will be sharper and faster. Obviously if you have a sluggish side and the other player doesn't, you are at a disadvantage.

I dont know exactly how it works, but its definitely there.

Robdog, I hear you're getting this on PS3?

Then lead the way young Padawan.

its not the whole teams morale that is pre-determined before the game, its each players.

therefore messi might play amazing, faster, dribble better, shoot better, etc and villa will be on a downer and be slow, bullied easily, and his shooting not up to scratch. then the next match it could be the exact opposite, where villa plays amazing and messi is shocking. or they both could have a normal game, or both have an outstanding game or both have a bad game.

if you have played previous versions of fifa or PES, you will have noticed this morale feature was not hidden, therfore you knew who was going to have a bad game and who wasnt and make changes to your team before the match started. in order to make the game more realistic, they have made it hidden. e.g. before every match Ancelotti doesnt know whether Mikel is going to have a good game or a bad one. So he plays him, if he has a bad game, then Ancelotti can then choose to sub him, this makes the game more realistic and means the better a player you are, the faster you can realise when a players morale is low and then sub him. Just how it would happen in real life.

a lot players dont understand why its in the game, i can. its making it more realistic. some people may say this is too much realism, but if they didnt do it, nobody would choose weaker teams to play with.

ah ok, much like it was in PES then, except you could see who was on form etc and sub accordingly.
Iv never noticed it so much in head to head but it is quite noticable when you get stinkers in the club championships, not even just with morale, a 55 rated RB playing everyone onside and too slow to catch any is frequent

Just lol. You clearly don't play enough. Go grab a game right now, I guarantee you will be playing against Barcelona, Chelsea, Inter or Real Madrid. Weaker teams my ****ing ass.

i had a guy use spurs against me, i replayed him a few times and yup always spurs. he was quite good with them too, huddlestone is amazing if on high morale, and his shots if well placed storm into the net.

I just went online, head to head, my default team was Arsenal, some guy joined who's default team was Brentford, he immediately switched to Real Madrid. I would've picked a 1 1/2 or a 2 star team if he'd given me the chance. :/

In my past 15 games I've only played Real or Barca, it's ridiculous.

I am one of those gamers that don't get morale. I don't buy what you say sonney, morale has no place online games its a total unknown factor.

Also the stuff that happened to me, my players were playing fine, then boom they wouldn't do anything, as I say that has no place online and is not what should be happening.
