***Official Final Fantasy XIV Thead***

alpha testing has now gone live... very very few people have been selected for that. predictions for length of alpha test are anything from 2 weeks to 1-2 months, then there'll be bigger and bigger waves of invites for beta.
 
Ye I cant wait for this game, FFXI was my first MMO and still my fav - even though I left it and moved into wow and played that for years - FFXI is the one that sticks in memory more, its such a in depth/hard game where as wow is made more and more Child like.
 
I must say, this is the first MMO to get my nickers wet since first reading up about WoW all those years ago!

Shame I no longer have the time for anything like this :(

Work, gf, home-ownership, partying, movies/tv. My WoW year only worked because I was single and a social shut-in due to lack of monies :p
 
How friendly is this likely to be for limited playtime players? That does not mean "can I solo", but it does mean "do you need 3 hours contiguous free time to do anything?"

Nobody truly knows yet, however it has been said they wish to include things in the game that you can do even if you only have 30 mins to an hour to play.
 
yeah they have said there will be mission guildleves that take 30 mins
also for levelling, you won't be as rectricted to a 6 person party as ff11 to make decent exp.
soloing/duoing is going to be an option... meaning less of those 1-2 hour "looking for parties"!
