yeah im getting the same problem, and i was really looking forward to giving it a blast tonight. shame
You do realise you could have just used utorrent to download the patch, in about 20 minutes. And it's been like that through all of Closed/Open beta too.

I've been playing, and enjoying it so far.Runs alright, seeing as I have a massive CPU bottleneck. Gorgeous game.
I did all that, even then it just sat at 99.9% and never confirmed anything / progressed to the next stage
Are we going to be bummed regularly because of time difference and patches? In that I mean are they patching at a convenient time for the Asian players which is slap right bang in the middle of prime play time over Europe?
Not a whine (though it is getting there as I still cant log in) but would feel a bit cheated that whenever there is a patch/maintenance it will kill the time I can play the game.

Maintenance is 5-8pm I think. Yeah its a bit crap

Anyone know where you pick up the next load of quests after the first few? Completed the Chain of Sands or something like that quests in Ul'dah. The next set of leve quests recomend level 10 and at the moment im only 7 so im sort of stuck in limbo. ANy ideas?

im at the same stage as you, I think you can get a new load of battleleave quests after you complete the first lot and complete chain of sands quest.
anyone know where to get a fishing rod? and are you restricted to one profession or can you do whatever you want ? I cant do the carp quest without a fishing rod right?
Unless you have to complete all the the disciple of the land/hand then I dont think you can. Unless there is something I am missing as I have completed Chain of Sands as well the standard battleleve
The leve timer resets after, I think, 36 hours. It used to be 48 hours but they changed it for retail. Leves and the main city quests are completely seperate from eachother. You can redo leves after every 36 hour reset, and change difficulty if you're finding them too easy; the rewards change each time too. Also if its balanced like open beta was, then you should be able to solo some level 10 leves at around rank 8+ on the lowest difficulty.
The next part of city quest I believe will become available once you hit rank 10.
To change jobs all you need to do is equip the main weapon to that specific class. So if you want to be a miner, just buy and equip the pickaxe and your class will change along with your stats relevant to what rank miner you are.

cannot be bothered to run round killing star marmots or whatever you call them to level out. Will probably work on the mining/smithing as well.Is there anyway to check recipes that you know or do they expect you to remember them all?

cant find fishing rods in Uldy
i also bought the mining pick etc.. but how do you use them?
definately not enough tutorials in this game, they throw you in the deep end

There are generally "tutorial" levequests that you can pick up from the Quicksand in Uldy.
I'm assuming that what eggyoke alluded to earlier means all levequests sit on a 36 hour CD timer but you can only pick up 8 at a time. Essentially I now have to wait a day and a half before being able to do any quests.
Loving the game though. Fantastic. Still need to get in a Linkshell though as I get the feeling thats when it will really come alive. A lot of the palyers at the moment still suffer from "wowitis" by that I mean most seem to want to solo and finding it a little difficult at times to pick up gorups.
Still cant work out how to take screenshots or get the game full screen which is vexing me somewhat at the moment.
