***Official Final Fantasy XIV Thead***

Square Enix can **** off with this game to be honest.

I get 1.2mb/s on utorrent, direct downloaders, wow patcher, everything in other words.

This?

I've port forwarded, turned off my firewall, antivirus, set up a static IP address, set up a DMZ, run the client as admin, and it still has 0 remote and 0 local connections and does not work in any way, shape or form. Can't download a single byte.

I'm actually going to get a different router now, after that the game can go in the bin.

Well that sucks, even though I have apparently "Learned" the recipe, there is no way of looking up what the ingredients are in game, I have to tab out...that crashes the game, then find some recipe wiki and just find it, How lame.

Aaaaaaaaaaargh problems with downloading on the first day of release of an MMO!!!! GOD WHO EXPECTED THAT!??!?!11!/1/?!1!

Surely there must be some way as during beta all I saw was people tapping away at blacksmithing. I could be wrong though as I never played beta massive aounts due to work and Im just installing live now :)

Either I'm missing something or this is the worst MMORPG ever created.

It's the least responsive, most uninuitive and least informative piece of poo I've ever played. Terrible, just terrible. There isn't even a tutorial! I wouldn't mind so much if the game was intuitive, but you literally sit there staring at the screen thinking, "how the hell do i DO ANYTHING!?"

What makes things worse is I think the game is very laggy at the moment with so many people in the same areas. The combat makes the game unplayable. You try to attack something and after a few hits the enemy will just return to the place it came from and its health will restore. Plus if you try to tag some mobs that are apparently doing nothing, you get a message saying Target is already engaged" or something along those lines. One occasion a mob just stood there hitting me until all my health had gone. I was spamming the "1" key the hole time to attack but my character wouldn't attack. So frustrating.

But even without the lag, the UI, the menus, the way you interact with NPCs and objects, it all just feels so wrong. I really want to like this game but its really frustrating me right now. Might have another go later on.

1. Go to https://secure.square-enix.com/account/ and login.

2. Select 'Select Service' under 'Select Options' and choose FFXIV. Click 'Add Service'.

3. If you haven't before you confirm personal details then enter your FFXIV registration code off the back of the game manual.

4. A number of new options appear along the main menu down the left hand side of the screen, under the heading, 'Payment and Service Fees'. Select 'Register / Update Card information'. It takes you through a procedure that sets up payment authorisation for transactions made on your account.

5. You are taken back to the main menu. For a second time, select 'Select Service' under 'Select Options' and choose FFXIV.

6. Under Active Service Accounts, Final Fantasy XIV is listed. Choose the option next to it - 'Options List'. Next to Character, Choose Add New Options. You then activate character slots. Note you don't pay anything for the first month, so you can choose 8 character slots and not pay anything. Cancel some of them before the end of the first month or it gets very expensive, though.

7. Any bonus item codes are entered in the same way and place as you entered your FFXIV game activation code in section (2) above.

Once this is done you are all set and ready to play when the servers go live.

I'd suggest doing as much of the above as possible as soon as possible (now). It's quite convoluted and the system will get hammered tomorrow.

Quite the fouf on that was!

Well patched up and all ready to roll. The pay monthly for a character slot is a bit shcoking! But I suppose with being able to switch jobs I only really need one!

edit: Thats me done for the evening as im off for a few drinks with the lass. Look me up on the Trabia server if you want Rastaena Yill is the name! Eggyoke I will look up your linkshell tommorow!

Didnt play the beta myself but i havent had any fps issues, seems to run really well, and yeah HW mouse is enabled.

Bit of an odd start to an mmo, kind of drops you straight in. As already mentioned menu system seems slow at first but you soon get used to that.

Strangest thing so far, i havent managed to find too many quests, ive finished what must have been the first story chain, and i did all the levequests i could which has taken me to about (actual) level 6. Do the leve quests work in a similar way to wow's dailies ?

We've been overrun with new apps :o
Sadly leader had to stop recruitment until he knows everyone from beta is invited (some beta members are getting Standard Edition ya see, released on the 30th)

You can still apply, but it might take awhile to sort out sorry :( Nothing I can do.

Thanks for that man, was nice and straight forward following these instructions.

ok, after my HELLISH experience of actually getting the game to work, I've finally done it, and it runs perfectly, account management is working fine, good stuff.

Tried to pick up a copy of CE today but everywhere near me only has 1 copy in each store that is already reserved. One store said they might let me have the copy if 48 hours elapses and it goes unclaimed. Does anyone have a spare friend code please, so I can try the game out? Email in trust..

You do realise you could have just used utorrent to download the patch, in about 20 minutes. And it's been like that through all of Closed/Open beta too.

Good to hear you're in, mind.

I've been playing, and enjoying it so far. :) Runs alright, seeing as I have a massive CPU bottleneck. Gorgeous game.

Came in tonight to try and get a few hours gameplay and had constant

13001 The lobby has encountered a connection error
error code 1015

Anyone else been getting this? Haven't been able to log in at all
