***** Official Football Manager 13 Thread *****

Im not a fan of this new game so far, I know its only the beta but i cant seem to win no matter what i try, tried tactics from my football manager 2012 and the usual 4-4-2 but I cant seem to get on a winning streak.

Any tactics working for anyone else?

Am going to wait a few weeks for this I think, let it be released and then inevitably patched. Nearly every year it has had problems at launch. Why not release a beta a month ago and let people find the bugs then rather than two weeks before official launch.

Is anyone else getting very erratic results? I'm managing Liverpool and somehow find my self top despite losing a lot of games, the big teams have consistently lost home games to mid to low table teams. Arsenal are 4 points above the relegation but only 12 off 5th place after 22 games. Also **** you Norwich, injured 3 of my players including a gerrard getting his leg broken in a horror challenge after 4 mins.

Got all the facepacks/kits/logos real comp names etc.. all modded in.

Awaiting a proper skin like stekklo or fahrenheit fm 2013.

Also anybody got any good freebies for lower leagues, current managing the watered down rangers in the scots div 3?

Rangers is quite easy, their squad will get you all the way to the first div so get some 16-18 yr olds and blood them in, Lee Toye is one I have but I am just entering the SPL with no money and a basic squad of kids on low wages as they keep lowering my budget.

Yep get a lot of rubbish losses despite having a lot of the ball/being a lot better than them...

Happens in most leagues

The worst I had so far is, as Liverpool being down 0-7 at half time at home against chelsea. They had 7 shots, i had about 9. I wasn't taking that **** so I quit and restarted, still lost 0-2 but I could take that.

4-2-3-1, with the two CM as DLP and BWM. Iv'e done quite well and created a lot of chances but I have conceded a lot more goals than I expected. The 2 wingers have been rampant, stirling is second in the league for assists and downing has about 8 goals after 20 odd games.

it is all about a clam team talk, strangely I find this year to be easy, OK I am rangers at the minute but even in the Argentine 2nd div I still get an 80+% win rate

Team talks need to be changed, I'm playing as Barca and I've tried nearly every one and they all provoke negative reactions from 3/4 players (and nothing from everyone else). Only once have I had anything positive.

Also for some reasons Sanchez seems a lot better than Messi :/

From what I have read it is because of your 'Experience' like Sunday footballer to International, as big name players wont respond to you as well. Messi and Ronaldo are never as productive in this game as in real life and I never buy them but always seem to out score them with my unknown forwards?!?!?!?

Well I have international experience.

I've tried Messi both up front and on the right, he's been ok but Sanchez is just dominating. In 6 games he's got 5 goals and 7 assists from left wing.

I'm still finding Fabregas **** though, he was **** in 12 too. Just never seems to do anything. Might sell him and try and get a better striker in.

You probably need something beyond just 'International Experience' for Barca, though, I'd have thought. Biggest club in the world, and all that.

Possibly nothing but 'World Class' manager reputation may be enough to get those teamtalks positive.

What formation were you playing? 1-1-8? I think the worst result I've ever had is probably 3 or 4 down at half time, but 7 is horrendous!

That's a pretty significant change from every other FM. I'm 7 matches in and Daniel Alves is already concerned about my team talks. It definitely feels like a bug.
