Haha. Shame on you! Actually I wouldn't bother with Syke and MSN right now. He's just going on and on about the poor defending/goal keeping in the match engine right now. :D

Yep. You can get different version numbers for the database and the match engine.
 
played the demo, bought it last night, i love the FM series, just won the carling cup with Newcastle, currently top of the prem (i know its totally realistic) only bad thing was i lost demba ba due to his clause, went to juvetus for 7mil :( but loving it, squads happy, job status is untouchable, into the quarters of the euro cup, loving it

only thing was ba going left me with the choice of vuckic and ranger as ameobi was injured, and i HATE ranger as he lives round the corner from me, so ended up playing vuckic who is on fine form!
 
Only played two games, but really enjoying it so far. The game will be buggy but as long as the dodgy defending and goalkeeping applies to both me and the opposition, I can live with that.

Very much liking the ability to put together a massive loan target list and then let the DoF sort it all out for me!
 
I played 5 In a row. Disallowed goals in all games. I then play a game it's ok, then it's back to the disallowed goals again.
Very frustrating.
 
If u guys are struggling like i was try this tactic, its the first ive made thats actually making an impact.

i play attacking againts teams i should easily beat otherwise i stick to counterattack. and i play balanced with short passing default closing down, aggressive tackling and focus passing down both flanks.


GK

DR DC DC DL fullbacks set to support unless needing to defend more and DC are defend

MC (attack) BWM (defend) MC(attack) if your mc are poor at long shots make sure to change them to rarely.

AMR AML both on support move into channels and cross aim center.

CF attack.

Im not scoring loads of goals but im scoring everygame only problem i am having is conceding from freekicks and corners to often and no idea how to counter it.

Forgot to mention i also put my right winger as playmaker and switch position with the other wing.
 
I really don't understand with these games why they don't just keep the same match engine and update the databases only for a few years (maybe with improvements here and there). Every year they seem to release a FM game with a new engine and it's always a mess for the first 6 months at least.
 
They update the engine every other year, so last year was just an improvement of they year before and this year is the rewrite like 11 was.

Not really enjoying this one yet, can't seem to get a game where I am excited about my team.

That depends on your computer, whether your computer is doing anything else which is taxing the processor (encoding a video for instance), how many leagues you are running and the database size you chose.

Normally, no, I'd guess it would take perhaps half a minute at the most on an average PC or laptop. I did have one instance yesterday or it taking a couple of minutes on transfer deadline day, but I've not seen is at any other point.

Yeah, not enjoying it with the smaller teams for this reason. Might just be one of the top teams until a new patch, at least the pure quality of players should make up for the crappy goals.

I'm playing games where they have 3 shots on target and score 3 goals, mostly from my defenders basically doing the tango in the box.

Er, I find that even as Man Utd, I was still getting extremely sloppy defending. Some might say that FM13 is the most realistic and accurate incarnation of FM yet! :p

Crawley Town gave me SUCH a hard FA Cup game it was absolutely ridiculous. Every shot they had, they scored with. :rolleyes:
 
Don't think I'm going to bother playing until there is an update to be honest. The match engine is awful and the AI logic is hilarious.
 
Just bought this after missing a few years due to them becoming more and more complex and time consuming. After finding out about FM Classic I've jumped on it and I'm loving the back to basic game mode.

However, is it just me or is it too easy. I've started with Man Utd and picked a fairly basic 4-4-2 formation and signed a couple of players (Subotic, Figueroa) and I'm undefeated after 18 games. I've drew quite a few but still.

Am I just naturally talented or is it the game? :p
 
The more im playing the more im put off in honesty. Players are not listening to what im telling them to do telling my wingers to move into channels and they still always without fail cut inside. Its impossible to manage a team if you want to watch the highlights. I think ill be waiting for an update. (i won promotion with wolves but to many frustrating games) Tell the keeper to go short and distribute to a CB... he kicks down field everytime. Have my STC play as poacher, he plays as DLF. It's infuriating knowing that if they just listen they will get chances. Worst for me though im having so many shots per game, all long range and most wide yet ive told them all to shoot rarely.
