Quite enjoying this - the depth of the staff roles is quite interesting.,

Also, and you may have been able to do this in previous editions, but being able to sort squads by minimum fee release clauses is throwing up a few gems!

1. It may be that "move into channels" in the FM world is equivalent to "exploit the gap between FB and CB", so they'd *have* to cut inside to reach those gaps [particularly when playing against a narrow defence]. "Cut inside", in FM terms, would appear to be "dribble the ball laterally inwards to the centre or beyond". At least that's what I've seen in my experience.

2. You might be assigning your players too much Creative Freedom. This should be used really sparingly, IME - playmakers, Trequartistas only.
 
I can never get into FM until I have a nice skin to use, player faces looking at me, lovely kits and badges etc. I'm an aesthetics man and currently the whole of it puts me off playing :p

Ill give ur advice one last try, i get better results just using the commentary but i want to watch highlights!

Also check your winger's Preferred Moves: Goes Forward Often, Runs With Ball Down Left/Right and Knocks Ball Past Opponent are all desirable. If they don't have them, train them.

While I've not played 2013, in earlier versions it was only when I'd trained my wingers up with these moves that I started seeing them behave as I wanted/expected in the highlights [bombing down flanks, beating their man, getting crosses in etc] irrespective of stats or instructions.

In my experience, Preferred moves are as important as mentoring when it comes to getting the best out of players. Sounds obvious, but it's often overlooked. Getting CBs to Mark Tightly; getting (foot)-only players to Avoid Using Weaker Foot... they all help.

Having a read on SI and it does seem like PPM are much more influential this year. Basically if a player doesn't have 'Run With Ball ...' he won't dribble even if he has 20 dribbling. :D
 
Not posted in here before, but am totally addicted to FM! Been playing since the original Champ Man, when I was still a teenager and at school (am now 35).

Like the new version, have quite a solid 4-4-1-1 and 4-2-3-1 going right now. Started off as Barca for the Beta version to get a feel for the game and have a wonderful 3-2-2-3 tactic that created some beautiful football and saw Messi tearing other teams apart!
 
Blackpool at the moment - shipped out Crainey and Evatt in order to put together an offer for Wellington Nem. Offered him silly money, and now I have a £7.75m midfielder in the Championship :D

Not played any league games yet, just spent a good 4 hours sorting out my backroom staff and getting tactics in order!
 
Playing as West Ham, 4-1-2-2-1. Diamme got injured then injured again, ive had about 3 games from him but diarra has filled in well, signed mensah and some dmc on free's with hubschman on loan, all squad players. Im playing pretty much the 1st team but ive put spence in at lb. Im upto Boxing day, semis of league cup vs southampton and im 2nd in league, joint top but ive played a game more.

No idea how im doing so well, no doubt i'll start getting smashed soon.

I've had a few crashes, get a message saying there has been an error and if I click 'ok' it just crashes.

Happened twice now?

You do know he has a 3.5mil buyout? or do you mean overall its cost you 7.75 with all the addons?
