Romania (ranked 33rd) just won World Cup 2018 in my game :D combined market value of their back 4 is about £3m! No idea how that happened...

After playing CM/FM for almost 20 years, and managing, I expect, into the tens of thousands of matches, I've just had my goalkeeper score for the first time! :D

I think FM '09 was the first (and last) time that I've scored with a keeper. He came out of his area to make a clearance and it bounced over the opposition keepers head. :D

A few screens from my latest save this year, just started my second season with Monchengladbach:

Has anyone seen this before? I don't know if it's a bug but it is mighty strange.

I've just won promotion from the Skrill South to the Skrill Premier after two seasons. My scouting knowledge was at 39%. Come 6th June 2015 my scouting knowledge has dropped to 29%. Normally this can be attributable to loss of staff, which I checked. In my case, I have not let any staff go. So how come I have lost 10% scouting knowledge overnight? I'm sure this happened to me with the last team I was managing in the lowest league too. The only thing I can think of is that the world in the Premier has somehow 'expanded' by 10%. I just can't put it down to anything else.

Maybe because after some time, some staff lose knowledge about a country.

I think you were right. I have just had this again, to a lesser extent. I won the Skrill Premier and have been promoted to League 2. My scouting has changed by 8% this time, in between seasons. It's weird because I have never had this happen when I am in the BPL. But this is three times now in the lower leagues.

Having great fun with an AS Roma save. First couple of years was hard. Trying to keep the club a float by selling you of the better players. Stuggling with Totti and De Rossis wages. Everyone else is on 60-70k and they were on 180-200k. No one would buy them and couldn't release them. After 2nd season got into Europa league which helped with money to buy some good young players. Next season won the league and qualified for CL. Totti retired which gave my a lot of space in my budget Managed to get through to the quater finals and lost 3-1 agg to Barcelona. Looks like i'm going to finish 2nd this season and see if any big players are interested in joining.

I noticed Valdes was still free in November, so I thought I'd just offer a random deal. He accepted

Haven't spent any budget, so thought why not!

Alright I need a decision, I've been lurking here for a while and you guys seem to know your stuff. This is FM13 not 2014 by the way.

I've got an 18 year old Neal Maupay bought in from Nice, his stats are currently pretty good and he has fantastic potential. I'm playing as Man Utd, it's currently January and he's had five starts and 14 sub appearances, obviously with the season kicking into gear now I think I can offer another 5 starts and 5-10 subs.

On the other hand Spurs have come in with a loan offer, they say he'd be a first team regular.

My question is, "to loan or not to loan".

If it had been valuable first team member then I might have said yes, however with just first team regular and giving him playing time myself I would say no.

If a young promising player is going to get more than as many starts as that then I'd keep them. If the player is unlikely to get more than a few sub appearances in the 88th minute then I'd look to loan them out.

Don't expect a young player's stats to start racking up quickly (such as a real-life Sterling might be), as it seems stats develop deeper into a player's career (as a older player's stats will still develop depending on training focus). Just pay attention to what they're doing on the pitch.

I had Adam Pepper as a central midfielder in an old Liverpool save (FM2009 or so maybe?) - his stats weren't brilliant, but he was Championship level and given he had a bit of potential I used him every now and then. I noticed he was hammering in 30 yard shots every 3rd game or so and a good few from the edge of the box too. While not having loads of stars (probably a 3-star player in a top club in the end) he was one of the best players I've had, only bettered by a regen striker named Nieminen on FM2013 and Arthur Numan on CM96/97 or so.
