Thanks for the advice, I think I'll probably keep him in house for now. I've got him and Angelo Henriquez as development strikers in need of playing time hence the dilemma, I think I'll pack Henriquez off as, even though he has better stats in general, the distribution of stats mean that he doesn't have such an impact in games at the moment. Maupay can score in games against lower prem opposition making it easier for me to justify his inclusion in the team.

I've been massively taking advantage of buying qualified non-EU players when in either League One or the Championship. This works better when the game is several seasons in and most of the players are regens - I think I'm heading into 2027/28 this season.

Have a look at the world ranking lists, then look at any obscure country who is in the top 75 and seek out players who have played 75% of their country's games over the previous two seasons. Firstly they won't cost a lot of money, secondly they won't ask for high wages and thirdly you can normally sell them on for a good fee the next season.

Defenders of all kinds, wingers and strikers are normally the best, however I've found buying CMs out of South America to be very hit and miss. Players in Costa Rica, Honduras and El Salvador can be picked up easily, as can those in South Africa (some of the youngsters have English dual nationality).

After playing CM/FM for almost 20 years, and managing, I expect, into the tens of thousands of matches, I've just had my goalkeeper score for the first time! :D

Ha, I have a one and only good memory of this.. Me and three other friends had a multiplayer game going back on FM 08 and we were doing the Serie A where two of them picked Inter and Milan, as I chose Parma and another friend picked Catania.

I was Parma v a friend who was Inter and it was 1-1 until my goalkeeper scored a goal kick in the 93rd minute for the winner :D

I really hope they give you a bit more control in the future. Feels like all you need to do is keep morale up and rotate throughout the season and you can't lose. Becomes a problem when you have a team such as Norwich or QPR that have a good pre season and win the first couple of league games, and end up coming top 3 in the league first season... Morale shouldn't be the be all and end all in terms of results. I can see a bottom half team coming top 3 as a fluke but it happens constantly. Also I'd like to see team meetings be a bit more in depth rather than having just a few options. Feels like you have little control.

Also some of the transfer fees are just completely ridiculous and unrealistic.

Would love to see a variable PA system that accounts for form.

Not sure if it's been mentioned already but they've been working on a documentary film, here is the trailer:

Maybe this is why FM15 is later this year? :p

I'm all for new features but there is far more to being successful in the game than just raising morale and rotating the squad. It's actually very well balanced in my opinion. If you check out the hidden stats of the players you'll see reasons why this is the case. Stats like consistency, pressure, important matches and injury proneness. All these things will have an effect on the overall play. Teams play better for sure over time, but these individual stats also change too which means you can't keep the same players for season after season and expect the same results. It just doesn't happen like that. I guess the caveat would be that if you have a team full of world class or excellent rated players then there is a good chance you can expect to win regularly. Bottom line the better the player the better the game.

I do agree with you regards the transfer fee irregularities and such like but even events like these happen in real life too. There's stuff they can improve for sure, hopefully there will be some nice new features.

I've never known a game like FM14 to give you high blood pressure.

Two players five yards offside and no attempt to move. Grrrr.

Worrall is crossing to Cairney and Cairney is offside? Okayyyyy.

I've seen some shocking decisions on the game.

There was one where I scored in a winner in the most important game of my season, but for whatever reason they pulled the game back to the centre of the pitch, so that I could get a free kick for a foul the opposing team had committed.

LUL WUT.

I've had a goal (It was a proper goal, went in the net straight on, didn't go out) end up being classed as a goal kick to the opposing team.

I've had an opposing keeper save the ball and still holding the ball land behind the goal line, with no goal given.

There's still an annoying bug where keepers might run backwards with the ball in their hand and concede a corner.
