******* Official Football Manager 2015 Thread *******

Bought this Friday (after skipping FM2014) and just completed my 1st season at Bury (winning League 2). I don't know if it's because I'm in a lower league but I have a huge number of blocked shots and the 18 yard box just ends up being a game of pinball.

I wonder who edited my post with my picture in haha.

I can't wait until the 12th of December, free from all deadlines and can get back on Football Manager and will do some updates! :D.

Fixed my image size hopefully :).

Have many been successful with narrow formations or is it all about the wingers again?

Always used wingers - either level with the CMs in a 4-4-2 or pushed forwards in a 4-5-1. A good set of wingers can contribute 20+ goals between them each season, even 30 goals if you've got the right players. Alongside a 20 goal a seasons striker, and you've got yourself the foundations of a good side.

That said, I've never used narrow formations, so might give it a go in the next team I manage.

Not really played for the last week - sat in third with Cambridge in my second season in the Premiership.

I started with Leeds, wingers weren't really an option :p

Sitting in 7th exceeding expectations and have now opted to go with a wider formation that is going well.

I always used a narrow formation and tactics but am having a lot of success with a standard 4-4-2 with wingers and a roaming playmaker.

It depends on what I have available and the situation the club is in.

I usually do not play with 'typical' wide men at all and haven't for a number of years.

Morning all

I've not played FM since the 2012 version. Very tempted by this one, and can get it on GMG for £22.
However, it seems to get mixed reviews. My mate has the 2014 version and he says the random results are shocking like going on a run unbeaten then suddenly losing 5-0 and morale plummets. Also, Spurs winning the league and Stoke??!!! finishing 3rd in his first season??
How is this version currently? I don't mind random, but not extreme unrealisticness (if that's a word)

Thanks

I think this version is awful some others will disagree but for me it's almost unplayable so many problems.

I'm glad I didn't purchase it but this does appear to be a pattern with these games you normally have to wait until they release the transfer update in feb/march time to make the game stable as such.

Unplayable? Wow. Can you define your problems? I love this version personally. More depth to it, improved scouting. Improved match engine. Lots of positives. I'm having fun. As for unrealistic results, I suppose you have to appreciate it is a game based on a number of factors, some of which are random. Random factors will always equate 'unrealistic' results.

FM15's been usable and readily playable for a few weeks for me.
Got Boro in the PL first season, finished 12th in PL. Overhauled the team, got relegated (Bunch of bad results/injuries).

Was the best thing to happen to me funnily enough. My younger players got the game time they needed to progress, the parachute payment covered all my previous transfers.

Smashed the Championship, and I'm 5th in the PL now.

Although my main striker (Potential WC Striker, got in my first lot of regens, incredibly lucky. Every regen since has been naff). got a 4-5 month injury :(.

Managed to get a 20 year old striker from Barca with 20 finishing/16 dribbling with 16 acceleration and pace though, he's knocking a few in.

Had a few odd results getting smashed by teams that were 20th (Stoke at one point) and then Nott Forest (19th) smashed me.

Yet I demolished Arsenal 6-4 (From 3-1 down at half time) and Liverpool 3-1 (When I'd been on a 2 game lose streak) :p

Hmmmm, still seems like it really splits opinion. Are there any future patches planned? Or any unnoffical ones?
I may hold off for a bit. Got loads of other games to get through and very little time to play :(

IIRC there's normally a patch just before Christmas (or very early January) then the final one is released in late February/early March which includes all of the January transfers and fixes any final bugs. Obviously if anything comes along which is a quick or urgent fix, then there may be additional patches, but the general patch schedule has been the same for years now.

I feel the main bugs have been squashed now and it seems perfectly fine.

My main complaint with FM 2015 is how demanding the 3D match engine is considering how poor the graphics are. I don't mind the relatively basic graphics (that's not what the game's about), but it doesn't feel like it's been optimised at all.
