I thought I was being clever pre-ordering on Steam. I could have popped to the shops and back 30 times by now.

'When the game is officially released, you'll be able to play it immediately'

...should be reworded to...

'When the game is officially released you'll have to wait an indeterminate amount of time for the game to be activated by a valve employee, while those clever enough to buy at retail enjoy the new game they got for considerably less and considerably sooner.'

....or something
 
The pit bug is very annoying.

Having to wait for every other car to leave before you can go :rolleyes:

this is the last time I pre-order off steam as well. The price wasnt competitive in the first place I just thought it would be fun to see achievements unlocked.

Personally I will just buy games off steam when there are specials on

That sucks as the cars change quite a lot over the course of the season, maybe they could update it so you can select which front and rear wing model to use as well has different areo parts for each race. That would be cool.

Hi. Steam did unlock the game for play at midnight, but (obviously) some of you are having issues which say it's not available for play. Can I get a bit more information?

You were preloaded, I'm presuming, and what happens when you try and play? Preload button says it's not ready yet or been unlocked? Still the same when you log out of Steam entirely and log back in?

Maybe a steam bug that needs to be fixed via a steam update, who knows.

The screenshot of GRID posted earlier looked fantastic any idea what settings were used?
 
To be fair to Valve, Civilization V unlocked dead on midnight.

The issue is, the publisher agreed this with Valve months in advance so everyone knew where they stood.

The countdown timer was originally set to this afternoon anyway.

At the last minute, Codemasters decided they wanted to release early and Valve appear to have goofed up at some point not unlocking the pre-orders.

If Codemasters were more organised, maybe this would not have happened?

Also, if there was a worldwide release, maybe this would not have happened?

Sorry :) - I'm resisting temptation at the moment - supposed to be working from home building a VM image and documentation... maybe 5 minutes at lunch time ;)

I do hope valve get their arse in gear as supposed to be playing multiplayer with my good friend mortster later and he has preloaded on steam as well :(
 
Bless this thread....would have missed FP1 on the Red Button had i not been reading.....:D

hopefully my copy should be waiting in my letterbox when i get back from work juts after lunch (dont do friday afternoons) and will see what it runs like.
 
So from what I gather this will probably be unlocking for play at 6PM? It seems that this is Codemasters fault for suddenly wanting to change the release time at the last minute, I'm not going to risk removing and re-downloading as by the time it downloads it will be 6 or thereabouts anyway. Hopefully Steam can rectify the mistake before 6PM but if not it isn't the end of the world, even though I'm disappointed it's just a game and not worth getting angry over.

Others have tried re-downloading and it doesn't change anything anyway.
 
We're not allowed iPlayer in my work........damn IGS Nazis.

Very handy that i look after the TV systema dn have a 32" telly sat on my desk, just tio the left of my computer.

Computer for OCUK forums.....check
Shiny telly for F1.......check
Coffee machine on the go......check

All covered and sorted
