Catalunya is pretty easy on its own (e.g., in TT), but for some reason the AI seem to step up their game dramatically compared to the previous tracks in career mode. I can get decent times in a good car (my best is a 1:19:190), and that completely destroys the times the AI set during qualifying and in the race, but in a Virgin, where I'm lapping low-mid 1:22s most of the time, the AI are constantly up my gear box.

I actually lost count how many times I had to restart that race due to various circumstances, despite starting from pole. Ah well... at least I won in the end.

i'm on 60 on ultra settings (8xaa i think) so i can't see how he'd struggle, unless it's an ati problem?

It's a problem with the game, it seems to affect totally random computers, for 1 person its fine for another with exactly the same setup its not.

If you check the Codemasters, Steam or any other forum that discusses this game you will see it's not just a small amount of people affected.

hi

before i order this game, i would like to know are the controls fully configurable? because i like the driving controls (forward, revece, left, right) on the right analog stick on my xbox360 controller.

Don't know if one exists, but can anyone point me to a guide for all the tactics for this game (e.g. new engines, wing controls, fuel etc.)? I'm new to F1 and would enjoy knowing the tactical side.

Steam means I get no manual....

I have that issue btw, poor fps despite having a 5870! I'm sure it's related to sound, but I'm on software and it persists. Also get crackling noises.

Anyway, one question for now:

DX9 or DX11?

kk thanks, will let a couple of friends know so they don't throw a fit if it doesn't work properly on their machines

If your getting crackling sound you should check your dpc latency with the dpc latency checker tool.

I've used it before to troubleshoot my Blu-ray playback. I would imagine there are some horrible latency spikes happening, sounds like it for sure. I can check but it's not going to help me fix the problem is it? Unless there's a fix I don't know about.

There isn't one yet as DX11 is buggy, you have to edit xml settings files to enable it.

I wanted to know if it was worth a try over DX9 or not. My understanding was that Codies would bring a patch out to add this officially at some point, is that rubbish or did they actually say that?
